Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluated the effects of locally applied tranexamic acid and adrenaline on blood loss and surgical field quality during functional endoscopic sinus surgery in 40 patients with chronic rhinosinusitis.
  • Group I, which used a combination of adrenaline and tranexamic acid, showed reduced blood loss and improved surgical field quality compared to adrenaline alone, while Group II found that adrenaline alone led to quicker surgery and better quality than tranexamic acid.
  • Overall, tranexamic acid was less effective than adrenaline for shortening surgery time and enhancing surgeon satisfaction, but the combination of both substances was superior in minimizing blood loss without significantly affecting surgery duration.
