Carotid artery stenting for symptomatic carotid near occlusions: Feasibility, safety and outcome analysis.

Introduction: Extracranial internal carotid stenosis (EICS) is a well-established cause of stroke. Carotid near-occlusion (CNO), either distally collapsed or not, is a rare sub-type of EICS with conflicting data regarding the necessity for treatment. The aim of this study is to evaluate the results of carotid artery stenting (CAS) for patients with symptomatic CNOs.

Diagnostic value of the femoral vein flow pattern for the detection of an iliocaval venous obstruction.

Objective: Identification of iliocaval obstructions has traditionally been difficult due to the lack of a reliable noninvasive screening technique. Although femoral vein flow patterns have been used to detect outflow obstructions, the diagnostic accuracy of indirect Doppler parameters has not yet been fully elucidated. The purpose of this study was to establish the diagnostic value of the femoral vein waveform in detecting chronic iliocaval venous lesions.

Renal Angiomyolipoma With Caval Extension and Pulmonary Fat Embolism: A Case Report.

Renal angiomyolipoma (AML) is a rare benign tumor of the kidney. Occasionally, it may extend into the renal vein or the inferior vena cava (IVC), but so far of pulmonary embolism in patients with renal AML was rarely reported. Here, a case of symptomatic pulmonary embolism secondary to AML that was placed IVC filter before the operation and then treated with radical nephrectomy is reported.

An Unusual Manifestation of Renal Angiomyolipoma: Pulmonary Fat Embolism.

Renal angiomyolipoma (AML) is the most common benign renal mesenchymal tumors. AMLs are usually asymptomatic and frequently affect women. Only epithelioid variant has malignant potential.

Suprarenal symplastic leiomyoma of the inferior vena cava.

We report on a case of a leiomyoma in the inferior vena cava that appeared in the image to be located in the adrenal gland. En bloc excision of the tumor with the right adrenal gland and the involved segment of the vena cava was carried out. Histopathological work-up of the tumor revealed smooth muscle fibers and marked nuclear pleomorphism consistent with symplastic leiomyoma.

Aortobifemoral graft causing complete intestinal obstruction in a patient with Behçet's disease: report of a case.

A 50-year-old man with Behçet's disease and a history of aortobifemoral (ABF) bypass grafting for an abdominal aortic aneurysm was admitted to our Emergency Room with ileus. Upon exploration we found that the ABF graft was occluding the jejunal passage. To the best of our knowledge this is the first such case ever to be reported.

Enteral and intraluminal short-chain fatty acids improves ischemic left colonic anastomotic healing in the rat.

Background And Aims: This study assessed the effect of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) on the healing of ischemic colonic anastomosis and compared the enteral and intraluminal (transrectal) forms of SCFAs in the same study.

Material And Methods: Left colonic ischemia was induced and a 1-cm left colon resection 2-4 cm above the peritoneal reflection was performed through a midline incision. In all, 160 rats were divided into eight groups: a control group, an ischemia group, a transrectal SCFAs group, an ischemia + transrectal SCFAs group, an enteral guar gum group, an ischemia + enteral guar gum group, an ischemia + enteral sham group, and a control + enteral sham group.
