Rapid genome sequencing for critically ill infants: an inaugural pilot study from Turkey.

Introduction: Rare and ultra-rare genetic conditions significantly contribute to infant morbidity and mortality, often presenting with atypical features and genetic heterogeneity that complicate management. Rapid genome sequencing (RGS) offers a timely and cost-effective approach to diagnosis, aiding in early clinical management and reducing unnecessary interventions. This pilot study represents the inaugural use of next-generation sequencing (NGS) as a diagnostic instrument for critically ill neonatal and pediatric ICU patients in a Turkish hospital setting.

Resilience among Turkish adolescents: A multi-level approach.

The objective of this study is to determine the components that contribute to psychological resilience in adolescents and to determine if physical exercise, emotion control, or self-efficacy are more effective predictors of resilience. Data from participants was collected through a personal information form, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form, the Self-Efficacy Scale for Children, the Emotion Regulation Scale for Children and Adolescents, and the Psychological Resilience Scale for Children and Adolescents. The data were gathered online from 16 out of the 81 provinces in Turkey, representing 7 different regions, using convenience sampling.

University students' free time management and quality of life: the mediating role of leisure satisfaction.

The impact of free time management and leisure satisfaction on quality of life is distinct, however, the role of satisfaction in enhancing quality of life through free time management remains uncertain. Hence, the objective of this research is to explore how leisure satisfaction acts as a mediator between free time management and the levels of quality of life among university students. Additionally, this study aims to analyse these concepts in relation to gender, age and the number of days of activity participation.

Synthesis and characterization of a novel ionic liquid for preconcentration of Brilliant Blue FCF (E 133) from some foods by ultrasound assisted temperature controlled ionic liquid dispersive liquid liquid microextraction method prior to spectrophotometric analysis; A comparative study.

In this study, a novel ionic liquid (3-(3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl)-1-butyl-1H-imidazol-3-ium hexafluorophosphate, (IL-2) was synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, NMR (H,C,P) spectroscopy, and TGA. Two microextraction methods, ultrasonic assisted ionic liquid dispersive liquid liquid microextraction (USA-IL-DLLME) and ultrasonic assisted-temperature controlled ionic liquid DLLME, have been developed for preconcentration of Brilliant Blue FCF (E133) from some food products by the sythesized IL-2. For optimization of the both methods, several parameters such as volume of IL-2, pH, temperature, ultrasonication time, extraction time, centrifugation time, and salt effect were investigated.

The aim of this study is to determine the functioning of adults with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) diagnosed in childhood and depression and burnout levels among their parents. A total of 261 adults with ASDs and their parents were recruited for the study. Both parents completed the Beck Depression and Maslach Burnout Inventories and reported the functioning of their adult offspring with ASDs.

Analysis of Serum VEGF, IGF-1, and HIF-1α Levels in ADHD.

Objective: In recent years, it has been emphasized that various growth factors that affect neurogenesis may lead to ADHD. In this study, we aimed to investigate the role of VEGF, IGF-1, and HIF-1α growth factors in the etiopathogenesis of ADHD.

Methods: This study is part of a representative, multi-centered national study that is planned by the Turkish Association of Child and Adolescent Mental Health to evaluate the prevalence of psychopathology among elementary school students in Turkey between the years 2014-2015. Background: The aim of this research was to assess serum zonulin and claudin-5 concentrations to show whether or not their eventual changes in patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) could have etiopathogenetic importance. There was no research in the literature assessing serum zonulin and claudin-5 levels in OCD to the best of our understanding.

Subjects And Methods: In this study, we assumed that there may be a deterioration in serum zonulin and claudin-5 levels in OCD patients and this may affect the severity of the disease.

Investigation of quality of life in obese adolescents: the effect of psychiatric symptoms of obese adolescent and/or mother on quality of life.

Objectives: The present study assessed the obese adolescents' health-related quality of life (HRQoL) based on both adolescent-reported and maternal-reported questionnaires to clarify adolescent-related psychiatric factors, maternal psychiatric factors, and body mass index (BMI) percentile variables that independently affect the quality of life (QoL).

Methods: A total of 190 adolescents (120 females and 70 males) were included in the study. The impact of clinical and psychiatric factors on the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory-Child Version (PedsQL-C) scores was analyzed using hierarchical linear regression methods.
