Additional jet activity in dijet events is measured using [Formula: see text] collisions at ATLAS at a centre-of-mass energy of [Formula: see text], for jets reconstructed using the [Formula: see text] algorithm with radius parameter [Formula: see text]. This is done using variables such as the fraction of dijet events without an additional jet in the rapidity interval bounded by the dijet subsystem and correlations between the azimuthal angles of the dijet s. They are presented, both with and without a veto on additional jet activity in the rapidity interval, as a function of the scalar average of the transverse momenta of the dijet s and of the rapidity interval size.

Objective: The response-to-tissue-injury theory is currently the favorite paradigm to investigate valve pathology. To the best of our knowledge, there are currently no in vivo valve injury models. There are few calcific aortic valve stenosis (AVS) models that develop hemodynamically significant stenosis.

Although the quantity of EAT is associated with obesity and metabolic syndrome, the role of EAT in the development of CAD in non-obese patients remains to be determined.
Methods: This study included 41 patients with CAD who underwent coronary artery bypass graft surgery and 28 patients without CAD who underwent other cardiac surgery.
Measurements of the variation of inclusive jet suppression as a function of relative azimuthal angle, Δφ, with respect to the elliptic event plane provide insight into the path-length dependence of jet quenching. ATLAS has measured the Δφ dependence of jet yields in 0.14 nb(-1) of √(s(NN))=2.

Little is known about the relationship between atrial endothelial impairment induced by innate immunity and thrombus formation. We examined whether atrial endothelial impairment through Toll-like receptor (TLR) 4 signaling causes atrial thrombogenesis.

Here we report the observation of unexpected concentric rings in the far-field beam profile at the output of a two-stage plasma-based X-ray laser, which can be considered as the first manifestation of a mirage phenomenon in X-rays. We have developed a method of solving the Maxwell-Bloch equations for this problem, and find that the experimentally observed phenomenon is due to the emergence of X-ray mirages in the plasma amplifier, appearing as phase-matched coherent virtual point sources.

Renal tubulointerstitial damage has been shown to be an important factor in the development of renal dysfunction as well as glomerular damage. However, the impact of renal tubular damage on clinical outcomes in patients with CHF remains to be determined.

This technique utilizes a sensitive radiometric receiver in combination with a scanning near-field microscope. Experiments were performed at 50 GHz (λ = 6 mm) with sample temperatures ranging from room temperature down to 160 K, and the performance was shown to be superior to that achieved with passive imaging systems in the infrared region.

The structures of 1-4 were elucidated from spectroscopic data (NMR, MS, and IR), and the absolute configuration of 1 was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. Didymellamide A (1) exhibited antifungal activity against azole-resistant Candida albicans.

In strongly excited area, drastic and fast reflectivity drop was observed. In moderately excited area, the decay of the reflectivity is slower than that in the strongly excited area, and the reflectivity reaches its minimum at t = 160 ps.

Pentraxin 3 (PTX3) is rapidly produced in response to inflammatory signals, and high plasma PTX3 levels are seen in patients with heart failure. This study aimed to examine the influence of PTX3 on cardiac hypertrophy and left ventricular dysfunction with respect to pressure overload.

The luminosity calibration for the ATLAS detector at the LHC during collisions at [Formula: see text] in 2010 and 2011 is presented. Evaluation of the luminosity scale is performed using several luminosity-sensitive detectors, and comparisons are made of the long-term stability and accuracy of this calibration applied to the collisions at [Formula: see text]. A luminosity uncertainty of [Formula: see text] is obtained for the 47 pb of data delivered to ATLAS in 2010, and an uncertainty of [Formula: see text] is obtained for the 5.
