Large-scale population cohort studies that collect genomic information are tasked with returning an assessment of genetic risk for hereditary cancers to participants. While several studies have applied to return identified genetic risks to participants, comprehensive surveys of participants' understanding, feelings, and behaviors toward cancer risk remain to be conducted. Here, we report our experience and surveys of returning genetic risks to 100 carriers of pathogenic variants for hereditary cancers identified through whole genome sequencing of 50 000 individuals from the Tohoku Medical Megabank project, a population cohort study.

It has been reported that these tetraspanin family members are prognostic factors in some cancers. However, the expression of CD63 and CD81 in pathological breast cancer specimens has not been reported.

Although chemoresistance is a significant clinical challenge in breast cancer, a possible contribution of RHAMM and hyaluronan to breast cancer chemoresistance has remained unclear. : We immunolocalized RHAMM and HA in breast carcinoma tissues.

This study analyzed 1967 patients with luminal-type breast cancer who underwent cancer gene panel testing. The results demonstrated that AKT pathway alterations, including PI3K/AKT/PTEN, occurred in 1038 (52.

There have been no reports of breast cancer occurring in patients with vascular EDS. Here, we report here a very rare case of breast cancer in a patient with vascular EDS.

In addition, the expression levels of zinc transporters, including ZnT5 and ZnT6, are reportedly higher in breast cancer than in normal breast tissues. ZnT5 and ZnT6 also contribute to heterodimer formation and are involved in several biological functions.

The objective of this study was to confirm TP53 signature can predict pathological complete response (pCR) and prognosis in cohorts of breast cancer patients who received NAC in prospective studies. Development cohorts (retrospective [n = 37] and prospective [n = 216] cohorts) and validation cohorts (NAC administered prospective study cohorts [n = 407] and retrospective perioperative chemotherapy (PC)-naïve, hormone receptor (HrR)-positive cohort [PC-naïve_HrR+ cohort] [n = 322]) were used.

In breast cancer, while high molecular weight HA is produced by hyaluronan synthase, it is degraded by hyaluronidases (hyaluronidase-1 (HYAL1) and hyaluronidase-2 (HYAL2)) into low molecular weight HA (LMW HA), which is considered to have pro-tumorigenic effects in human malignancies. However, HA and HYAL2, the rate-limiting enzyme of HA degradation, have not been comprehensively examined in breast cancer and clinicopathological significance of LMW HA remains to be elucidated in breast cancer.

Despite their low virulence, Lactobacillus spp. can cause NF, and because of its rare incidence, there is limited information about its molecular and clinicopathological characteristics.

Germline alteration of HR-related genes, such as BRCA1 and BRCA2, causes hereditary breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC). Cancer cells with HR deficiency are sensitive to poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors and DNA-damaging agents.

We previously reported that selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) function requires F-box protein 22 (Fbxo22). Here, we investigated the role of Fbxo22 as a potential biomarker contributing to the resistance to endocrine therapy in ILC.

However, significance of cytoplasmic-ER immunoreactivity has not been reported in ER-negative breast carcinoma tissues. We immunolocalized cytoplasmic ER in 155 ER-negative breast carcinoma tissues and evaluated its clinicopathological significance including the prognosis.

Methods: This was a post-hoc exploratory analysis of the POTENT trial.
The identification of risk factors helps radiologists assess the risk of breast cancer. Quantitative factors such as age and mammographic density are established risk factors for breast cancer. Asymmetric breast findings are frequently encountered during diagnostic mammography.

Herein, we report an extremely rare case of tumor-to-tumor metastasis of medullary thyroid carcinoma to a paraganglioma in a patient with multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2B. Based on genetic examination, a 36-year-old woman was diagnosed with multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2B when she was 24 years old.

Purpose: Sodium/glucose cotransporter (SGLT) 1 and 2 expression in carcinoma cells was recently examined, but their association with the clinicopathological factors of the patients and their biological effects on breast carcinoma cells have remained remain virtually unknown. Therefore, in this study, we explored the expression status of SGLT1 and SGLT2 in breast cancer patients and examined the effects of SGLT1 inhibitors on breast carcinoma cells in vitro.
Methods: SGLT1 and SGLT2 were immunolocalized and we first correlated the findings with clinicopathological factors of the patients.
Purpose: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a highly heterogeneous and aggressive breast malignancy. Glucocorticoid (GC)-glucocorticoid receptor (GR) pathway plays a pivotal role in the cellular responses to various stresses including chemotherapy. Serum- and glucocorticoid-induced kinase-1 (SGK1) is known as an important downstream effector molecule in the GR signaling pathway, we attempted to explore its clinicopathological and functional significance in TNBC in which GR is expressed.

Background: Prognosis of breast cancer patients has been improved along with the progress in cancer therapies. However, cancer therapeutics-related cardiac dysfunction (CTRCD) has been an emerging issue. For early detection of CTRCD, we examined whether native T1 mapping and global longitudinal strain (GLS) using cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) and biomarkers analysis are useful.
