Experimental study on N-isopropyl-p-iodoamphetamine lung uptake was performed by means of analyzing microautoradiography obtained by administering 125I-IMP to Wistar male rats. In the normal rat lung at one minute after the intravenous injection of 125I-IMP, there is increased grain density in the interstitial space including the capillary lumen and interalveolar septum, but not in the alveolar space. On the other hand, at 24 hours after the intravenous injection, increased grain density was noted in the alveolar space of the rat lungs which had received a dose of 10 Gy to the unilateral one.

Renoscintigraphy using 123I-orthoiodohipprate (123I-OIH) was conducted, and the dynamic imaging study results and the renograms were analyzed. The results using 123I-OIH were compared with those using 131I-OIH in 22 of 33 patients. Measurement of the effective renal blood flow (ERBF) was also performed using 123I-OIH by the single blood-sample method.

Gamma seminoprotein (gamma Sm), a glycoprotein isolated from human seminal plasma with a molecular weight of 29,000 and possibly a serine protease, has been demonstrated to be one of the prostate organ-specific antigens. We established a murine monoclonal antibody (MoAb) to gamma-Sm in order to prove the presence and localization of this protein in the prostate. The hybrid clones were obtained by fusing mouse SP2/O-Ag-14 myeloma cells with splenocytes from Balb/c mouse immunized with the major fractions of gamma-Sm.

In order to evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of pinhole collimator (PHC) imaging combined with an X-ray for vertebral metastasis, our prospective study has employed receiver operating characteristics (ROC) analysis in 21 patients, 11 with osseous metastasis and 15 with degenerative joint disease in the lumbar vertebrae. PHC imaging provided better anatomic information on the extent of 99mTc-MDP accumulation. PHC vertebral scintigraphy had a considerable impact on the decision-making process, although with variations and not very satisfactory results among the physicians with little experience.

We induced brain edema in 72 rats by injecting 5 microliters of 3.0% wt:vol polyvinyl acetate into the left internal carotid artery, producing permanent embolization in the left cerebral hemisphere, which developed ipsilateral brain edema reproducibly. Edema was assessed 24 hours after embolization by determining the brain water content and the sodium and potassium concentrations.

We have presented a quite rare case of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma developing cardiac metastasis which was demonstrated and confirmed by radionuclide studies and autopsy. A 57-year-old male with SVC syndrome underwent radionuclide angiography using 99mTc-HSA prior to 67Ga-citrate and 201Tl-chloride studies for suspected right atrial metastasis from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The radionuclide angiography revealed a filling defect in the right atrium.

The clinical effectiveness of moxisylyte hydrochloride (Moxyl, Fuji Rebio), a selective alpha 1-adrenoceptor blocking agent, was investigated in patients with symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia. Moxisylyte hydrochloride was administered at the dose of 90 mg per day orally for four weeks. Residual urine sensation was improved in 9 out of 17 cases (53%), retarded urination in 14 out of 19 (74%), prolonged urination in 12 out of 19 (63%), weak stream in 14 out of 21 (67%) and strained voiding in 11 out of 19 cases (58%).

The combination antitumor effect of three kinds of biological response modifiers (lentinan, PSK and juzentaiho-to) was evaluated in the treatment of IMC solid carcinoma with CDDP (9 mg/kg) and/or radiation (1000 rad). Remarkable antitumor effects were observed in the lentinan (2 mg/kg, daily) group to which a single dose of CDDP was given 24 hours before irradiation. On the other hand, combined therapy with CDDP and radiation alone showed less antitumor effect.

One hundred and sixty-seven patients with newly diagnosed, previously untreated prostatic adenocarcinoma, during the period between July, 1971 and March, 1934, were studied. The histopathologic specimens of the prostate were classified by the Japanese General Rules of Prostatic Cancer (JGRPC) and by Gleason's classification. The number of patients with well, moderately and poorly differentiated prostatic carcinomas according to the JGRPC classification was 42, 74 and 51 respectively, and the number of the patients with Gleason's pattern 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 was 24, 20, 32, 43 and 48, respectively.

A double-blind placebo-controlled study of bunazosin for the treatment of symptomatic prostatism is reported, incorporating urologic departments of 25 hospitals. Four different doses of bunazosin hydrochloride was administrated orally to 174 patients having benign prostatic hyperplasia and 31 with bladder neck contracture for a period of four weeks; high dose group (45 patients, 3 mg/day for the first week followed by 4.5 mg/day for the next three weeks), middle dose group (45 patients, from 1.

The concentration of Cefbuperazone (CBPZ) were determined by bioassay in the serum and prostatic tissue of 36 patients with benign prostatic hypertrophy, who underwent transurethral resection. One gram of CBPZ was injected intravenously prior to surgery. Pharmacokinetic analysis was performed using the two or three compartment model theory.

Calcium antagonistic activity of MCI-176, a new calcium antagonist, was compared with those of diltiazem and nifedipine in isolated depolarized porcine coronary arteries. MCI-176, diltiazem and nifedipine competitively inhibited calcium contraction of the large coronary arteries, and their pA2 values were 7.49, 6.
