We were unable to diagnose gastric MALT lymphoma histologically using specimens obtained by endoscopy, although a flow cytometry (FCM) analysis demonstrated clonality of neoplastic cells by separating cells by CD45 gating. Furthermore, a fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) analysis showed trisomy 18.

[A case of serous cystic neoplasm with form changes on an image obtained during long-term follow-up].

A 45-year-old man presented with a 24-mm macrocystic lesion at the pancreatic head, which was detected by computed tomography (CT). During six years of follow-up, CT, MRI, and endosonographic images of the cystic lesion showed that the cystic lesion had enlarged to 42mm, with the appearance of a thick cyst wall. Since a cystic tumor could not be ruled out, surgery was performed.

The serrated pathway has recently been proposed as a route for the development of colorectal cancer with microsatellite instability. Hyperplastic polyposis syndrome is a rare syndrome defined by the presence of numerous serrated polyps, with a high risk of developing into colorectal cancer. We present here a case of hyperplastic polyposis syndrome developing into colorectal cancer with microsatellite instability from a serrated polyp.

The effect of passages during Japanese BCG vaccine production on genetic stability and protective efficacy.

Many genetic differences have been found among currently available BCG vaccines. To avoid continued accumulation of phenotypic or genotypic changes in the strains, WHO and most national regulatory authorities request that the vaccine should not be prepared by more than 12 passages from the master seed lot. However, it has recently been reported that genetic changes occur even during the passage for vaccine production.

During this project, we evaluated methods to scan MRCP images with overlapping slice positions during one breath-hold using the FRSSFSE sequence. With the SSFSE sequence, the imaging field where the slice position overlaps is subject to substantial influence from the saturation effect of the water component.

[Repeated intraperitoneal injection of low-dose CDDP for gastric cancer with ascites owing to peritonitis carcinomatosa].

We attempted treating 5 patients with ascites from peritonitis carcinomatosa of gastric carcinoma using TS-1 as systemic chemotherapy, and repeated intraperitoneal injection of low-dose CDDP for the carcinomatous ascites. TS-1 was administered in the usual manner and repeated intraperitoneal injection of CDDP (10 mg/body) dissolved in physiological saline 20-500 ml was given with an implantable reservoir. In 3 patients, the carcinomatous ascites disappeared, and in 2 other patients they decreased remarkably.
