The extraordinary preservation of Cueva de Los Murciélagos (Albuñol, Spain) provides a unique opportunity to identify the materials and the techniques involved in archery during the Early Neolithic period. Arrows with preserved feathers, tied fibres, adhesive substance, and two probable bowstrings have been studied trough an unprecedented multi-proxy investigation, including microscopy and biomolecular methods, to unravel archery techniques. The study has identified the oldest known sinew bowstrings, the first evidence for the use of olive tree (Olea europaea) and reed (Phragmites sp.

Four 2,3-diarylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridines (I, 1a-c) were synthesized as inhibitors of UV-induced apoptosis and showed quite different properties. First, only the pyridinyl derivative I showed protection in molt cells. From the supposed intracellular target, phospholipid membrane models were studied by (1)H, (2)H and (31)P NMR spectroscopy.

Based upon molecular modeling, the pharmacophore of potential inhibitors of p38 MAPK (mitogen-activated protein kinases) is discussed and the predictive binding affinities are calculated. Syntheses of original diarylimidazo[2,1-a]phthalazines obtained by Suzuki coupling are described.
