Posterior Müller Muscle-Conjunctival Resection as a First Step to Treat Eyelid Ptosis: Clinical Results and Treatment Algorithm.

Background: The posterior Müller muscle-conjunctival resection (MMCR) procedure is a straightforward procedure for the correction of eyelid ptosis with a relatively short operating time and fast recovery. Traditionally, its use was limited to patients with mild involutional ptosis and good levator function and a positive phenylephrine test result.

Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy of the MMCR procedure as a primary step to treat eyelid ptosis with varying etiology and severity, including patients with more severe ptosis and moderate levator function, and to produce a treatment algorithm.

Primary angle-closure glaucoma, a rare but severe complication after blepharoplasty: Case report and review of the literature.

Blepharoplasty is one of the most commonly performed aesthetic procedures. Surgical complications are rare, but can have severe consequences, such as permanent vision loss. In this report, we describe a patient who developed primary angle-closure glaucoma (ACG) with associated vision loss after a oculoplastic procedure using local anesthesia.

Long-Term Follow-Up Study of Young Adults Treated for Unilateral Complete Cleft Lip, Alveolus, and Palate by a Treatment Protocol Including Two-Stage Palatoplasty: Speech Outcomes.

Background: No consensus exists on the optimal treatment protocol for orofacial clefts or the optimal timing of cleft palate closure. This study investigated factors influencing speech outcomes after two-stage palate repair in adults with a non-syndromal complete unilateral cleft lip and palate (UCLP).

Methods: This was a retrospective analysis of adult patients with a UCLP who underwent two-stage palate closure and were treated at our tertiary cleft centre.

Objective: This study sought to evaluate long-term dental arch relationships in adults with a unilateral complete cleft lip and palate (UCLP) treated by the Utrecht protocol and to compare results with the centers from the Eurocleft study.

Materials And Methods: Retrospective analysis of UCLP patients age 17 or older, treated by two-stage palate closure at the Wilhelmina Children's Hospital, a tertiary center for cleft surgery in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Patients were invited to the clinic for a long-term evaluation.
