The study aimed to assess how therapy and vocal rehabilitation after total laryngectomy affect the quality of life in laryngeal cancer patients using an electrolarynx.
Conducted in a Brazilian cancer hospital, the research involved 31 patients whose quality of life was measured at two points: one week and 70 days after surgery, using a validated questionnaire.
Results showed improvements in various quality of life metrics, especially in speech, indicating that the electrolarynx significantly enhances communication and overall life satisfaction post-surgery.
