Utility of Genomic Platforms in Treatment Decisions in Axilla-Positive Breast Cancer.

Genomic platforms have proven to be more accurate as a prognostic tool than immunohistochemistry studies in patients with early, hormone receptor positive, HER 2 negative breast cancer and, in some cases, have also demonstrated predictive ability for chemotherapy benefit. They are now widely applied in node-negative disease, but their use in node-positive disease is more recent and more controversial, especially in premenopausal patients. In this article, we review the use of these tests in node-positive disease.

Testicular germ cell tumors (TGCTs) are a clinically and pathologically heterogeneous disease, and little is known of its genetic basis. Only low susceptibility risk loci have been identified for both sporadic and familial cases. Therefore, we tried to identify new susceptibility genes responsible for familial testicular cancer that may contribute to increasing our knowledge about the genetic basis of the disease.

Coincidence of GIST and pancreatic endocrine neoplasm in neurofibromatosis.

Carcinoids of the ampulla of Vater are infrequent tumors of which a quarter of cases have been detected in patients with type I neurofibromatosis. This hereditary disease is also associated with gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). However, the coincidence of these three entities together have only been formerly detected in five cases.

Clear-cell adenocarcinoma of vesical origin: a case study of metastatic disease treated with chemotherapy.

Vesical clear cell adenocarcinoma is an uncommon tumour. The description of nearly all published cases focuses on histological issues, providing few clinical particulars and limited followup. The treatment choice is resection.
