[Creation and management of organizational knowledge].

With a view to creating and establishing a sustainable position of competitive advantage, the best organizations are increasingly investing in the application of concepts such as learning, knowledge and competency. The organization's creation or acquisition of knowledge about its actions represents an intangible resource that is capable of conferring a competitive advantage upon them. This knowledge derives from interactions developed in learning processes that occur in the organizational environment.

[In search of the best evidence].

Evidence-based practice is an approach involving the definition of a problem, the search for and critical evaluation of available evidence, the implementation of evidence in practice and the evaluation of the results obtained. In order to implement this approach in nursing, nurses must know how to obtain, interpret and integrate evidence stemming from research in the care rendered to patients and their relatives. Based on the literature, this article presents theoretical considerations concerning the hierarchy of evidence and where to search for the best evidence.

[Technical production and its interface with nursing].

This is a descriptive study which subject concerns the interfaces of technological production with nursing. Its objectives is to analyse the interface of technological production with nursing and to discuss that production on the following dimensions: instructional, instrumental and informatic. To develop this the summaries of the papers presented during the last three editions of the Congresso Brasileiro de Enfermagem--1998, 1999 and 2000 were used as a source of information.

The re-humanization of the executive nurse's job: a focus on the spiritual dimension.

This work synthesizes the authors' views on the damages to the development of human capital in health services, which are caused by the disregard to the human spiritual dimension. New administration paradigms related to the development of spirituality are pointed out. Considering that the spiritual dimension has a systemic nature and that, by means of ethics and esthetics, it harmonizes all of man's dimensions in his relationships with others, the authors aim at approaching the spiritual value as fundamental for the re-humanization of the managing nurse's job.
