[Profile of nursing diagnoses before starting hemodialitic treatment].

This was a retrospective study, which aimed to describe the profile of nursing diagnoses of 31 patients starting hemodialysis treatment in a hemodialysis clinic in the South Zone of São Paulo. The survey was conducted from patients' records. The data used included: patient identification, underlying disease, data from physical examination notes and multidisciplinary evaluations.

[Technology and humanization in critical care environments].

Because of the advances made with the industrial revolution through technological discoveries in machinery, professional-patient relationship has become increasingly automated, leaving the humanization in the background. The purpose of this paper was to reflect about the humanization process in intensive environments and its relation with the technology insertion. Technology contributes as an effective way to treat patients who require extreme care.

[Advances in intensive neurological monitoring: implications for nursing care].

The neurological monitoring is an assessment and accompaniment of data supplied by technical devices of alterations in the nervous system. This study aimed at performing an update about the different methods of intensive neurological monitoring and establish relations with the nursing work. The impact of the supplement and electronics equipment renewal of vital support for the critical patient is a concrete fact, and must make the nursing team adapted with the rhythm of new technology in service of patient's health.

[Associated risk factors for Coronary Heart Disease among nursing students].

A correlational study was carried out with 303 nursing students from a private nursing school in the city of São Paulo, SP, Brazil. The study aimed at establishing correlation among risk factors for Coronary Heart Disease. Isolated risk factor of major relevance was sedentary lifestyle (80,2%).

[Nursing assistance to the potential organ donor with brain death].

This study aimed at describing nurse's activities in the assistance for the physiological maintenance of potential organ donors. This is a non-structured bibliographic review that considered current publications having as basis the publications of the Brazilian Organ Transplant Association and of the Brazilian Intensive Medicine Association. Results are organized according to the following structure: ethical issues related to organ and tissue removal, physiological repercussions of brain death (BD), clinical and technological signs of BD, and nursing assistance in the physiological maintenance of potential organ donors.

[Application of the technique of analytical structure of project for the sub-project of websites catalog of the Virtual Health Library-Nursing].

This work intents, in a didactic form, to explain the benefits of use of a technique of project management, named Work Breakdown Structure: a graphical tool to identify the main results to be developed in a project. The real examples are applied to a sub-project of the Virtual Library in Health in Nursing (BVS-Enfermagem) to development of the Sites Catalogs. The benefits of graphical visualization for a major agreement between professionals of different expertise are presented.

[Understanding the meanings of ischemic chest pain of patients admitted in the emergency room].

Nursing professionals who work in emergency units are constantly facing patients with ischemic chest pain. This study aimed at understanding the meanings of patients with ischemic chest pain when they are in the emergency room. It is a study with qualitative approach that was carried with ten patients admitted in an emergency room in a private hospital in the south zone of São Paulo city.

[Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: update and nursing assistance].

This is an update that aimed to describe some aspects of physiopathology of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) and its therapeutics correlating them to nursing assistance. Data source was based on LILACS bibliographical database using the search expression "hypertrophic cardiomiopathy" and "nursing care". The HCM is a disease that appears from cromossomic alterations that causes hypertrophy of the left ventricule and can cause heart failure, functional class III and IV.

[A proposal for a geometrical delimitation model for ventro-gluteal injection].

This study aimed at presenting and comparing geometrical and traditional technique for intramuscular injection in the ventrogluteal area. This is a quasi-experimental study of non-equivalent control group type, carried out with anatomical parts of corpses to verify the precision of function between traditional delimitation using hand as reference and the geometrical model which was constituted by tracing imaginary lines across bone structures of the hip, making a configuration of a triangle whose barycenter points the punction site. The study demonstrated that the punction site delimited by the geometrical technique keeped proportion of the envolved structures, and matched with the muscular womb of the ventrogluteal area in 100% of punctions.

[Nursing interventions for patients with sickle cell during pain crisis].

Sickle cell is the most common genetic disease in Brazil. Its complications result in out of control painful crisis. In considering this context, this article aimed at evidencing what nursing actions or interventions can be carried out to minimize those patients' pain.

[Elements of the Political Professional Project of the Brazilian Graduate Nurses National Association present in the Annaes de Enfermagem].

The journal Annaes de Enfermagem was created to publish ideas, concepts, results of scientific production, reflections and, mainly to expose the Political Professional Project of the Associagao Nacional de Enfermeiras Diplomadas Brasileiras (Brazilian Graduate Nurses National Association). This study aimed at describing and characterizing that elements as they were present in the referred journal in the periodo from 1932 up to 1941. This is a qualitative study based on the historical method.

[Analysing the content of the section "Students' page" of the Annaes de Enfermagem].

The joumal Annaes de Enfermagem was a publishing vehicle to discuss health problems and to evidence the professional role. The section "Students Page" was created for the motivation of students to expose their ideas and to focus in relevant points of the nurse education by that time. This study aimed at describing and analysing the content of the published material in the period from 1932 to 1941.

[Nursing on the Web: the creation and validation process of a web site on coronary artery disease].

The World Wide Web is an important health information research source. A challenge for the Brazilian Nursing Informatics area is to use its potential to promote health education. This paper aims to present a developing and validating model used in an educational Web site, named CardioSite, which subject is Coronary Heart Disease.
