Objective: The aim of the study is to assess the effect of an emergency department (ED) standardized clinical guideline for adolescent heavy menstrual bleeding on the rate of return ED visits and ED provider history-taking and management of this condition.

Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study. Patients less than 18 years old presenting to a single academic children's hospital ED between 2010 and 2020 with a chief complaint of heavy menstrual bleeding were included.

miR-17-92 cluster-BTG2 axis regulates B-cell receptor signaling in mantle cell lymphoma.

B-cell receptor (BCR) signaling is critically activated and stable for mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), but the underlying mechanism of the activated BCR signaling pathway is not clear. The pathogenic basis of miR-17-92 cluster remains unclear although the oncogenic microRNA (miRNA) miR-17-92 cluster is highly expressed in patients with MCL. We revealed that miR-17-92 cluster overexpression is partly dependent on SOX11 expression and chromatin acetylation of MIR17HG enhancer regions.

Developing and evaluating the usability of a web-based Diabetic Retinopathy Health Education Program for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Objectives: To describe the development of a webpage based on the Intervention Mapping (IM) protocol and usability testing of the Diabetic Retinopathy Health Education Profram (DRHEP).

Methods: The mixed methods pilot feasibility study was carried out between April and September 2021, involving 16 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and 5 experts. The usability score was rated according to the System Usability Scale (SUS).

Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare skin cancer, is difficult to diagnose, and carries a high mortality rate. Solid organ transplant recipients (SOTR) are at a disproportionately increased risk of MCC and other malignancies due to chronic immunosuppression. We discuss the case of a 47-year-old woman with a remote history of liver transplant on chronic immunosuppression with tacrolimus for over a decade who presented for a third recurrence of MCC on her left forearm.

Background: Hyperglycaemia is frequent in acute ischemic stroke and denotes a bad prognosis, even in the absence of pre-existing diabetes. However, in clinical trials treatment of elevated glucose levels with insulin did not improve stroke outcome, suggesting that collateral effects rather than hyperglycaemia itself aggravate ischemic brain damage. As reactive glucose metabolites, glyoxal and methylglyoxal are candidates for mediating the deleterious effects of hyperglycaemia in acute stroke.

Previous studies have demonstrated that the appropriate production of serum anti-severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-Cov-2) neutralizing antibody (nAb) plays a critical role in the recovery from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19); however, the role of nAb production in the recovery from a flare-up of chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) has been unknown. We here report the first retrospectively investigated case of serum anti-SARS-Cov-2 nAb production during chronic ITP flare-up triggered by COVID-19. A 79-year-old woman with a history of corticosteroid-refractory ITP visited our hospital complaining of fever, cough, and sore throat for 4 days.
