Evaluation of the effect of vitreomacular interface disorders on anti-VEGF treatment in patients with diabetic macular edema in real life: MARMASIA study group report No. 10.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of vitreomacular interface disorders (VMID) on treatment response in patients treated with anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) due to diabetic macular edema (DME).

Methods: Three hundred seventy-seven eyes of 239 patients in the MARMASIA Study Group who received intravitreal anti-VEGF treatment (IVT) due to DME were included in the study. The group 1 consisted of 44 eyes of the patients who had not received any treatment before, were followed up regularly for 24 months after at least a 3-month loading dose, and suffered from VMID such as epiretinal membrane, vitreomacular adhesion or traction, and lamellar hole.

How the immune response to the structural proteins of SARS-CoV-2 affects the retinal vascular endothelial cells: an immune thrombotic and/or endotheliopathy process with in silico modeling.

Thrombotic events associated with SARS-CoV-2 at the vascular endothelium still remains unclear. The aim of the current study is to determine the relationship between cellular proteins on the (ocular) vascular endothelial surface and the immune thrombotic and/or endotheliopathy process elicited by SARS-CoV-2 using an in-silico modeling. The structural S (spike glycoprotein), N (nucleocapsid protein), M (membrane protein), and E (envelope protein) proteins, an accessory protein (ORF1ab) of SARS-CoV-2 and 158 cellular proteins associated with retinal vascular endothelial cell surface or structure were included in this study for comparison of three-dimensional (3D) structure and sequence.

The use of Online Videos for Vitreoretinal Surgery Training: A Comprehensive Analysis.

Objectives: The current study aimed to test the quality and educational utility of the videos of retinal detachment surgery available on YouTube.

Methods: YouTube was searched using the keywords "retinal detachment, retinal detachment surgery" in October 2019. The steps of pars plana vitrectomy surgery were standardized according to the literature.

Herein, we describe a case of external ophthalmomyiasis caused by in an 18-year-old female living in the city centre of Istanbul and who had no history of contact with any animal.

The Clinical Characteristics of Unilateral Placoid Pigment Epitheliopathies.

: Placoid-pigment-epitheliopathies like Acute-Posterior-Multifocal-Placoid-Pigment Epitheliopathy (APMPPE) and Relentless-Placoid-Choroidopathy (RPC) usually show bilateral involvement. This retrospective case series describes the clinical features with unilateral disease onset.: 21 patients from 9 tertiary referring institutions were collected and evaluated.

Are the effects of hemodialysis on ocular parameters similar during and after a hemodialysis session?

Purpose: To evaluate the changes in several ocular parameters, including choroidal thickness, during and after hemodialysis.

Methods: Twenty-seven eyes of 27 patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis were included. The patients underwent an ophthalmic examination, including intraocular pressure, central corneal thickness, iridocorneal angle, subfoveal choroidal thickness, and blood pressure, just before a hemodialysis session, during the second hour of the session, and half an hour after the end of the session.

Comparison of serum thiol-disulphide homeostasis and total antioxidant-oxidant levels between exudative age-related macular degeneration patients and healthy subjects.

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to calculate serum total oxidant status (TOS), total antioxidant status (TAS), and dynamic thiol-disulphide (T-D) homeostasis in patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and compare the results with healthy individuals.

Methods: Thirty-three exudative AMD patients and 33 healthy controls were included in this case-control study. Participants' serum TAS and TOS levels were measured.

Relationship between angiotensin I-converting enzyme insertion/deletion gene polymorphism and retinal vein occlusion.

To evaluate the association between angiotensin I-converting enzyme insertion/deletion (ACE I/D) gene polymorphism and retinal vein occlusion (RVO). A total of 80 patients with retinal vein occlusion who was admitted to the Eye Department of Kartal Training and Research Hospital between 2008 and 2011, and 80 subjects were enrolled in this retrospective case-control study. Patients who experienced RVO within one week to six months of study enrolment were included, and those with coronary artery diseases, prior myocardial infarction history and coagulation disturbances were excluded from the study.

Surgically induced astigmatism following medial rectus recession: short-term and long-term outcomes.

Purpose: The current study aimed to investigate short- and long-term postoperative ocular refractive effects of medial rectus recession on the involved eye and to describe the detectable effects in detail by the results of vector analysis.

Methods: Data of patients in whom medial rectus recession was performed between 2010 and 2012 were retrospectively evaluated. The study included 52 eyes of 32 patients.

Background: To evaluate the 3-year clinical outcomes after toric implantable collamer lens (ICL) implantation for the management of moderate to high myopic astigmatism.

Methods: Thirty-four eyes of 20 patients who underwent toric ICL implantation were reviewed. All eyes completed 3-year follow-up.

Comparison of astigmatic keratotomy results in deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty and penetrating keratoplasty in keratoconus.

Purpose: To compare astigmatic keratotomy (AK) outcomes in high astigmatism after deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK) and after penetrating keratoplasty (PK) in keratoconus patients.

Design: Prospective, comparative, interventional case series.

Methods: This study comprised 20 eyes that underwent DALK and 24 eyes that underwent PK.
