The study aimed to examine serum levels of spexin in pregnant women with hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), a condition characterized by severe nausea and vomiting during pregnancy.
Conducted at a hospital in Turkey, the research involved 80 pregnant women, comparing 40 diagnosed with HG to 40 healthy controls.
Results showed that women with HG had significantly higher serum spexin levels (342.4 pg/ml) compared to the control group (272.8 pg/ml), suggesting a potential link between spexin and HG symptoms that warrants further investigation.
