Pretest Genetic Education Video Versus Genetic Counseling for Men Considering Prostate Cancer Germline Testing: A Patient-Choice Study to Address Urgent Practice Needs.

Purpose: Germline testing (GT) for prostate cancer (PCA) is now central to treatment and hereditary cancer assessment. With rising demand for and shortage of genetic counseling (GC), tools to deliver pretest informed consent across practice settings are needed to improve access to GT and precision care. Here, we report on Evaluation and Management for Prostate Oncology, Wellness, and Risk (EMPOWER), a patient-choice study for pretest video-based genetic education (VBGE) versus GC to inform urgent practice needs.

Benign fibrous pseudotumor resulting in orchiectomy despite intraoperative frozen section.

Fibrous pseudotumors are rare benign lesions that originate within the paratesticular tissues. Local excision is the preferred method of treatment of these tumors over radical orchiectomy, however a definitive diagnosis must be made beforehand given the similarity of these tumors to malignant entities. We present a case of fibrous pseudotumor of the tunica vaginalis and cauda epididymis.

Uropharmacology in primary care: 2010 update.

Many disorders such as erectile dysfunction, overactive bladder, hypogonadism and benign prostatic hypertrophy have traditionally been managed primarily by urologists. The development of newer agents to treat many of these conditions has allowed the primary care provider to manage many of these common conditions. The use of these newer medications has become commonplace in the primary care setting.

Leukocyte subtypes in electroejaculates of spinal cord injured men.

Objectives: To determine the level of leukocytospermia and seminal leukocyte subtypes in men with spinal cord injury (SCI) and to compare the findings with those of fertile, able-bodied controls.

Design: Prospective, controlled clinical trial.

Setting: University infertility practice.
