Primary Cutaneous Umbilical Melanoma: The Michigan Experience.

Background: Primary cutaneous umbilical melanoma is rare. Thorough information regarding its characteristics and treatment, including use of sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) staging, is difficult to obtain. The unique anatomy of the umbilicus adds to the complexity of diagnosing and treating melanoma at this site.

A Case of Adjacent, Clonally Distinct Borderline Melanocytic Tumors on the Arm.

Atypical Spitz tumor (AST) is a melanocytic proliferation that shares histopathologic features of Spitz nevus and spitzoid melanoma. Distinction of AST from spitzoid melanoma is critical because the majority of ASTs will follow an indolent course. Array-based comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH) has been suggested as a potential tool for evaluating malignant potential in spitzoid tumors.
