Background: Medication errors and adverse drug events have a significant impact on mortality and morbidity among hospitalized children, and are more likely to occur in critical care settings due to the fast-paced environment and patient vulnerability. Background: Human resource shortages are a global challenge in the healthcare system and create barriers in providing timely follow-up visits for paediatric patients discharged recently from the intensive care unit (ICU). Relying on experienced intensive care nurses to provide follow-up services for patients post paediatric ICU (PICU) transfer has been proven a cost-effective and safe practice. This study aimed to achieve no delays in initiating follow-up visits and to assess the safety of implementing a nurse-led follow-up service.
