- Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a serious complication of diabetes, and this study investigates the effectiveness of measuring capillary beta hydroxybutyrate (β-OHB) compared to urine acetoacetate in adolescents with DKA in Indonesia.
- A total of 37 patients were monitored for various metrics including blood glucose, β-OHB levels, and urine ketones, with data collected from 2006 to 2011.
- The results showed that capillary β-OHB measurements correlated better with acid-base balance indicators (pH and bicarbonate levels) than urine ketone tests, highlighting its potential as a more reliable method for monitoring DKA treatment.
