A diastereocontrolled route to 10-arylpyrrolo[1,2-b]isoquinolines.

The diastereocontrolled preparation of a series of 10-aryl-substituted pyrroloisoquinolines is achieved through a synthetic design that involves two key cyclization steps. First, the iodine(III)-mediated reaction of a series of N-benzylpentynamides leads to the generation of the 5-aroylpyrrolidinone skeletons. Finally, after reduction of the generated ketone group into the corresponding carbinol, the effect of a number of different acidic conditions was studied to assist the second cyclization step that occurs through an aromatic electrophilic substitution process.

Use of alkyl 2,4,6-triisopropylbenzoates in the asymmetric homologation of challenging boronic esters.

(-)-Sparteine induced lithiation of primary 2,4,6-triisopropylbenzoates and subsequent homologation of boronic esters is reported. A comparative study with lithiated N,N-diisopropylcarbamates has demonstrated the superiority of the hindered benzoate.

An intramolecular PIFA-mediated metal-free allylic oxycarbonylation reaction and its application to the preparation of furopyrimidinones.

The preparation of a series of furo[3,4-d]pyrimidinones by an unprecedented PIFA-mediated intramolecular allylic oxycarbonylation reaction developed on 5-carbamoyl-substituted Biginelli adducts is presented. The construction of the fused lactone by a metal-free C-H activation process, without the need of an additional functionalization step, is featured in the present work.
