Cancer adhesion to the mesothelium is critical for peritoneal metastasis, but how metastatic cells adapt to the biomechanical microenvironment remains unclear. Our study demonstrates that highly metastatic (HM), but not non-metastatic, ovarian cancer cells selectively activate the peritoneal mesothelium. HM cells exert a stronger adhesive force on mesothelial cells via P-cadherin, an adhesion molecule abundant in late-stage tumors.

The T cell antigen coupler (TAC) is a chimeric receptor that facilitates tumor antigen-specific activation of T cells by co-opting the endogenous T cell receptor complex in the absence of tonic signaling. Previous data demonstrates that TAC affords T cells with the ability to induce durable and safe anti-tumor responses in preclinical models of hematological and solid tumors. Here, we describe the preclinical pharmacology and safety of an autologous Claudin 18.

Article Synopsis
  • - This study looks at how different feeding methods (direct breastfeeding, expressed milk, and formula) affect the gut bacteria of infants at 6 weeks old.
  • - Researchers analyzed stool samples from 217 healthy infants in Hong Kong, finding similar bacterial diversity in both direct breastfeeding and expressed milk feeding groups.
  • - The results indicate that the way a baby is fed doesn’t significantly change gut microbiota, suggesting that certain bacteria may come from the milk itself or other sources rather than the feeding method.

Intimate partner violence (IPV) during pregnancy emerges as a compelling and urgent concern within the domain of public health, casting a long shadow over a substantial cohort of women. Its pernicious consequences extend beyond the individual, enveloping the well-being of both the mother and the fetus, giving rise to an elevated risk of preterm birth, low birth weight, fetal harm, and maternal psychological distress, including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and, tragically, maternal mortality. Despite the prevalence of IPV being comparable to other conditions like gestational diabetes and preeclampsia, a universal screening protocol for IPV remains absent globally.

Purpose: Uterine leiomyosarcoma (LMS) is an aggressive sarcoma and a subset of which exhibits DNA repair defects. Polo-like kinase 4 (PLK4) precisely modulates mitosis, and its inhibition causes chromosome missegregation and increased DNA damage. We hypothesize that PLK4 inhibition is an effective LMS treatment.
