and are major parasitic nematodes of dogs. Many environmental and phenological changes have recently modified their geographic patterns in many countries; thus, this study has updated the distribution of and in dog populations of selected regions of Central and Southern Italy. Also, collateral data on other endoparasites affecting the study population have been collected.

Design: Iterative analysis conducted in accordance with the best practices of the Delphi method, including anonymity, controlled feedback, and statistical stability of consensus.
Setting And Participants: 24 clinicians, 18 public health experts and 4 patient associations experts completed all the Delphi iterations between 18 April and 3 July 2023, for a total of 46 participants from several Italian Regions.
Introduction: Environmental factors may contribute to myasthenia gravis (MG) development, sometimes with seasonal patterns of exposure. However, whether seasonality has an impact on MG incidence remains unclear. We aimed to investigate the association between seasonality and MG onset.

Cup positioning within the Lewinnek Safe Zone (LSZ) does not, however, avoid implant dislocation. Thus, the concept of a functional cup position has been introduced.

The nature of these decisions underscores the importance of shared decision-making, which is founded on the concept that patients substantially contribute to determining their own readiness for surgery. The OPTION survey was developed as a conversation aid to facilitate shared decision-making in the context of total joint arthroplasty.

However, during disease progression, L-Dopa-induced dyskinesia (LID) develops virtually in all PD patients, making the control of PD symptoms difficult. Thus, understanding the mechanisms underlying LID and the control of these motor abnormalities is a major issue in the care of PD patients.

The aim of this study was to confirm the real-world effectiveness and safety of GLE/PIB in children and adolescents (3 to < 18 years old) with CHC.
Methods: This prospective, multicentre study involved 11 Italian centres.
Objective: Diagnosing autoimmune limbic encephalitis (ALE) in adults with new-onset seizures can be challenging, especially when seizures represent the predominant manifestation and MRI findings are not straightforward. By comparison with mesial temporal lobe epilepsy with hippocampal sclerosis (MTLE-HS), this study aimed to identify ictal electro-clinical features that might help clinicians recognize ALE-related seizures.
Methods: This retrospective, multi-centre study analysed the ictal semiology and EEG correlate of 116 video-EEG-captured seizures in 40 ALE patients and 45 ones recorded in 21 MTLE-HS subjects.
Background: Iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia represent global health issues, particularly during pregnancy and the postpartum. The present paper aims to summarize the appropriate management of these conditions in order to try to improve how clinicians perceive, diagnose and treat iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia.
Methods: An expert panel of Italian obstetricians of Lazio region was convened to evaluate the available literature on iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy and the post-partum in order to try to define a flow chart on the appropriate management of such conditions; aspects related to the patient blood management have also been investigated.
Background: Spinopelvic mechanics are critical in total hip arthroplasty; however, there is no established consensus for adjusting acetabular component positioning based on spinopelvic parameters. This study aimed to (1) validate a recently developed Patient-Specific acetabular safe-zone calculator that factors in spinopelvic parameters and (2) compare differences with hip-spine classification targets.
Methods: A total of 3750 patients underwent primary total hip arthroplasty across 3 academic referral centers, with 33 (0.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, identifying effective treatments against SARS-CoV-2 has become of utmost importance. This study elucidates the mechanism by which perlatolinic acid, a lichen-derived secondary metabolite, non-competitively inhibits the dimerization of the SARS-CoV-2 3CL protease, a pivotal enzyme in the virus lifecycle. Utilising a combination of kinetic parameter determination, inhibition assays, and molecular docking studies, we demonstrate that perlatolinic acid effectively disrupts the enzymatic function by binding at the dimer interface with a measured value of 0.

The present study aims to determine whether a symbiotic relationship between the human organism and bacteria in hardware implantation may be present, without clinically evident infection. Materials and methods We studied explanted devices for microbiological analysis, using the sonication technique, from patients who underwent surgical removal of musculoskeletal hardware for mechanical reasons.

The invasiveness of surgical approaches plays a relevant role in HO development. The aims of this study were to assess the development of HO 6 months after THA through direct lateral approach (DLA) or direct anterior approach (DAA) without a dedicated orthopaedic table and to assess the clinical impact of HO.

ALF due to WD (WD-ALF) is difficult to distinguish from other causes of liver disease and is a clear indication for liver transplantation. There is no firm recommendation on specific and supportive medical treatment for this condition.

It is characterized by phenotypic variability and incomplete penetrance with multiorgan clinical signs.
Methods: Using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), we analyzed a panel of liver-disease-related genes in a population of 230 patients with cholestasis and hepatopathies.
Duddingtonia flagrans is a nematode trapping fungus used for the control of gastrointestinal nematodes in livestock. The quantity of chlamydospores of D. flagrans required for the reduction of third-stage larvae (L3) of sheep gastrointestinal nematodes (GIN) is largely unknown, and a matter of discussion.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground And Purpose: Acetylcholine receptor antibody (AChR-Ab) detection is crucial in myasthenia gravis (MG) diagnosis and, currently, the radioimmunoassay (RIA) is the gold standard. However, RIA may detect AChR-Ab against nonpathogenic intracellular epitopes. In this study, we performed fixed cell-based assay (F-CBA) in RIA-AChR-Ab positive subjects without MG symptoms, to assess whether F-CBA could show a higher specificity compared to RIA in detecting pathogenic Abs.

This study aimed to characterize gender trends in the adult reconstruction fellowship match and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) membership over the past decade. We hypothesized that there would be increases in the percentage of women adult reconstruction fellows and AAHKS members.
