Background: Approximately one-third of acute ICU patients display atypical sleep patterns that cannot be interpreted by using standard EEG criteria for sleep. Atypical sleep patterns have been associated with poor weaning outcomes in acute ICUs.
Research Question: Do patients being weaned from prolonged mechanical ventilation experience atypical sleep EEG patterns, and are these patterns linked with weaning outcomes?
Study Design And Methods: EEG power spectral analysis during wakefulness and overnight polysomnogram were performed on alert, nondelirious patients at a long-term acute care facility.
Background: There is an urgent need to better understand the mechanisms associated with the development, progression, and onset of recurrence after initial surgery in glioblastoma (GBM). The use of integrative phenotype-focused -omics technologies such as proteomics and lipidomics provides an unbiased approach to explore the molecular evolution of the tumor and its associated environment.
Methods: We assembled a cohort of patient-matched initial (iGBM) and recurrent (rGBM) specimens of resected GBM.
Apolipoprotein A-II (apoA-II) is the second most abundant apolipoprotein in high-density lipoprotein (HDL) particles, playing an important role in lipid metabolism. Human and murine apoA-II proteins have dissimilar properties, partially because human apoA-II is dimeric whereas the murine homolog is a monomer, suggesting that the role of apoA-II may be quite different in humans and mice. As a component of HDL, apoA-II influences lipid metabolism, being directly or indirectly involved in vascular diseases.

However, to the best of our knowledge, there is no scientific study justifying the traditional use of extract as an anxiolytic and antidepressant agent. Moreover, data regarding the polyphenolic fraction is limited.

However, the yield of the adenoviral transduction of murine mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC) is low. Here, we aimed to improve the adenoviral transduction efficiency of bone marrow-derived MSC.

One of their most attractive features is their immunomodulatory activity that has been extensively characterized both in vitro and in vivo. While this activity has proven to be very efficient, it is transient.

Depression is a serious disorder that affects hundreds of millions of people around the world and causes poor quality of life, problem behaviors, and limitations in activities of daily living. Therefore, the search for new therapeutic options is of high interest and growth. Research on the relationship between depression and oxidative stress has shown important biochemical aspects in the development of this disease.

The study was carried on in 150 teeth with indirect capping of deep cavities, and 50 teeth with direct capping. The evolution of the cappings was followed clinically, radiologically and morphologically.

The study demonstrates the importance of the antibiogram in the determination of the sensitivity of microbiocenosis of the infected dental canals. The methods and the techniques for the sampling of the pathological products are presented. The classical technique for antibiograms, consisting in horizontal diffusimetry is compared with the modern method of double-layer diffusimetry which employs a "redox" indicator (C.
