The importance of bone marrow infiltration patterns in multiple myeloma seen on magnetic resonance imaging-Case report and imaging perspective.

Non-secretory multiple myeloma (NSMM) is an extremely rare variant of multiple myeloma (MM) and accounts for a maximum of 5% of all myeloma cases. This variant of MM usually represents a diagnostic challenge to the clinician because of the absence of detectable monoclonal immunoglobulin on serum or urine electrophoresis. We present the case of a 34-year-old Caucasian male who presented to the emergency department with pain in the lumbar area secondary to a fall and who was eventually diagnosed with non-secretory multiple myeloma after the radiologist initially pointed out a discrete "salt and pepper" infiltration of the spine seen on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) although the spine computed tomography (CT) performed initially showed no suspicious lesions for malignancy.

High Carbohydrate Diet Is Associated with Severe Clinical Indicators, but Not with Nutrition Knowledge Score in Patients with Multiple Myeloma.

Although the survival rate of patients diagnosed with multiple myeloma has doubled over the last few decades, due to the introduction of new therapeutic lines and improvement of care, other potential contributors to the therapeutic response/relapse of disease, such as nutrient intake, along with nutrition knowledge, have not been assessed during the course of the disease. The purpose of this research was to assess nutrition knowledge and diet quality in a group of patients with a diagnosis of multiple myeloma. Anthropometric, clinical and biological assessments and skeletal survey evaluations, along with the assessment of nutritional intake and general nutrition knowledge, were performed on 61 patients with a current diagnosis of multiple myeloma.

Risks and challenges of orthopaedic invasive interventions in haemophilia in a low-resource country. A single-center experience.

Unlabelled: Haemophilic arthropathy is a defining feature and a debilitating condition of persons with haemophilia (PwH) in low resource countries. Orthopaedic surgery is unavoidable for patients with high occurrence of joint damage.

The MRI fine evaluation of cervical lymphadenopathies and associated oral cavity pathological conditions.

The aim of this paper is to point out the value of MRI in diagnostic assessment of cervical lymphadenopathies and associated oral cavity pathological conditions. We used a statistic retrospective method to evaluate the results obtained after MRI examinations of 64 patients diagnosed with oral cavity pathology and cervical lymphadenopathies. In all cases the MRI exams detected the presence of cervical lymphadenopathies, their topoanatomic sites and oral cavity pathological entities that produced them.

Influence of novel gallium complexes on the homeostasis of some biochemical and hematological parameters in rats.

The aim of this study was to detect possible homeostasis changes in some biochemical and hematological parameters after the administration of gallium (Ga) complexes C (24) and C (85) on an experimental animal model (Wistar strain rats). In order to observe chronobiological aspects, a morning (m) and an evening (e) animal series were constituted. Further on, each series were divided into three groups: control (C), experimental I (EI), and experimental II (EII).

Heterogeneity of malignant non-Hodgkin lymphoma-associated blood vessels.

The present study described for the first time a high heterogeneity of blood vessels in non-Hodgkin lymphomas (nHL). The tumor blood vessels were highlighted with CD105÷smooth muscle actin (SMA) and CD34/SMA double immunostaining. For both follicular and diffuse types of lymphomas, more than 85% of CD34/SMA positive vessels were of immature and intermediate type.

The characterization of PDGFR-alpha and PDGFR-beta expression in malignant non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Unlabelled: Treatment of haemophiliacs with inhibitors is of great concern in low-income countries confronting shortage in substitutive treatment. Invasive interventions on these patients represent a major challenge due to the fact that costs are significantly higher in comparison to similar procedures conducted on patients without inhibitors.

Objective: In the context of insufficient availability of clotting factor, we aimed at highlighting the experience of surgical treatment in inhibitor patients.
