Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of the partial-thickness non-advanced tunnel technique (TUN) versus the coronally advanced flap (CAF), both combined with a connective tissue graft, in the treatment of multiple gingival recessions.
Materials And Methods: Twenty-nine patients (83 teeth) affected by multiple gingival recessions were treated in two clinical centers with either the test (TUN) or the control (CAF) intervention combined with a connective tissue graft. Outcomes at 3 and 6 months after surgery included complete root coverage (CRC-primary outcome), mean root coverage (mRC), changes in recession depth (RD), probing pocket depth (PPD), and keratinized tissue height (KT).
Objectives: To systematically assess the literature and report on (1) the frequency of occurrence of buccal soft tissue dehiscence (BSTD) at implants, (2) factors associated with the occurrence of BSTD and (3) treatment outcomes of reconstructive therapy for the coverage of BSTD.
Materials And Methods: Two systematic reviews addressing focused questions related to implant BSTD occurrence, associated factors and the treatment outcomes of BSTD coverage served as the basis for group discussions and the consensus statements. The main findings of the systematic reviews, consensus statements and implications for clinical practice and for future research were formulated within group 3 and were further discussed and reached final approval within the plenary session.
The main objectives of this work were to assess the efficiency, ease-of-use, and general performance of a novel osseoshaping tool based on first-user clinical experiences and to compare these observations with preclinical data generated in rodents using a miniaturized version of the instrument. All patients selected for the surgery presented challenging clinical conditions in terms of the quality and/or quantity of the available bone. The presented data were collected during the implant placement of 15 implants in 7 patients, and included implant recipient site (bone quality and quantity) and ridge evaluation, intra-operative handling of the novel instrument, and the evaluation of subsequent implant insertion.

Materials And Methods: 441 Caucasian Spanish PIII/IV-C cases from the SEPA Network of Research Clinics and 1141 controls from the Banco Nacional de ADN were genotyped with "Axiom Spain Biobank Array," which contains 757836 markers, including rare and low-frequency Spanish variants. The analysis of the individual association and subsequently the gene-level analysis with Sequence Kernel Association Test (SKAT) were carried out adjusting for age, sex and PC1 covariates.
Purpose: No information is available on the perception of the quality of care in patients treated for periodontitis. The purpose of this article was to assess how periodontitis-affected patients perceive the quality of periodontal treatment (PT) and to measure the factors which may influence it.
Materials And Methods: 306 subjects who completed PT were invited to participate.

Aim: To evaluate the non-inferiority of the adjunct of a xenogeneic collagen matrix (CMX) or connective tissue graft (CTG) to coronally advanced flaps (CAF) for coverage of multiple adjacent recessions and compare superiority in patient-reported outcomes (PROM).
Material And Methods: One hundred and eighty-seven subjects (92 CMX) with 485 recessions in 14 centres were randomized and followed up for 6 months. Patients filled daily diaries for 15 days to monitor patient-reported experience.
Aims: To develop a prediction model for tooth loss due to periodontal disease (TLPD) in patients following periodontal maintenance (PM), and assess its performance using a multicentre approach.
Material And Methods: A multilevel analysis of eleven predictors of TLPD in 500 patients following PM was carried out to calculate the probability of TLPD. This algorithm was applied to three different TLPD samples (369 teeth) gathered retrospectively by nine periodontist, associating several intervals of probability with the corresponding survival time, based on significant differences in the mean survival time.
The esthetic outcome of implant-supported restorations is affected by the implant position. A well-placed implant will allow appropriate contours of the restoration and together with an adequate volume of soft tissue will result in a functional and esthetic restoration. When a screw-retained restoration is anticipated, an implant that is angled too far facially would be esthetically unacceptable.

Summary: The purpose of this practical application is to illustrate the management of GR defects with a primary outcome goal of complete root coverage. The consensus in dental literature and among expert clinicians is that root coverage may be attained through the application of different procedures and that outcomes are generally measured by reduced defect depth, gain in clinical attachment, and an increase in keratinized tissue (KT). These procedures may include the use of: 1) subepithelial connective tissue graft (SCTG); 2) coronally advanced flap; 3) free gingival graft; and 4) soft tissue graft substitutes (acellular dermal matrix and xenogeneic collagen matrix materials) and biologics (recombinant human platelet-derived growth factor and enamel matrix derivative).

The goal of the periodontal soft tissue root coverage procedures group was to develop a consensus report based on the accompanying systematic review of root coverage procedures, including priorities for future research and identification of the best evidence available to manage different clinical scenarios.
Methods: The group reviewed and discussed the accompanying systematic review, which covered treatment of single-tooth recession defects, multiple-tooth recession defects, and additional focused questions on relevant clinical topics.
Background: This prospective multicenter, randomized, controlled clinical trial compared the clinical outcomes of enamel matrix proteins (EMD) versus placement of a bioabsorbable membrane in conjunction with guided tissue regeneration (GTR).
Methods: Seventy-five patients with advanced chronic periodontitis were recruited in seven centers in three countries. All patients had at least one intrabony defect of > or = 3 mm.

Purpose: The purpose of this prospective multicenter study was to evaluate the efficacy of 3i threaded implants for the treatment of edentulous patients in a 1- to 5-year period. This article reports the total data and global results of 3 threaded designs of 3i implants: self-tapping, ICE, and Osseotite.
Materials And Methods: A total of 1,583 implants (619 ICE, 545 Osseotite, and 419 self-tapping) were placed between 1995 and 1999 in 528 patients at 13 European clinical centers.
