Article Synopsis
  • * It found that GSV diameter increases with the complexity of anatomical features, which can include multiple tributaries or other abnormalities, correlating significantly with chronic venous disease (CVD) stages.
  • * The research underscores the need to recognize these variations for better surgical outcomes, supporting personalized treatment strategies for patients with venous reflux related to CVD.

Article Synopsis
  • - A study analyzed 187 non-small-cell lung cancer patients to investigate how inflammation-related markers affect their prognosis and treatment outcomes.
  • - Key findings included significantly higher neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and other inflammation ratios in advanced-stage patients and smokers, indicating a relationship between inflammation and cancer severity.
  • - The research highlighted that higher levels of NLR correlated with larger tumor sizes and that certain inflammatory markers could help predict complications after surgery, emphasizing their role in patient management.

Article Synopsis
  • This study examines the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on lung cancer surgical treatments by comparing data from surgeries performed during the pandemic to those before and after.
  • Key findings include a significant decrease in surgical procedures during the pandemic, an increase in cancer severity (T stage), and a rise in patient comorbidities during that time.
  • The analysis also noted reduced hospitalization times during the pandemic, indicating major shifts in clinical practices and strategies for lung cancer care during this crisis.

Background: Despite advancements in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), the optimal choice of graft material remains a subject of investigation. This study aimed to comprehensively analyze the morphological characteristics of varicose veins, exploring their potential utilization in CABG compared to healthy veins.

Methods: The study included 178 patients, categorized into two groups based on healthy and varicose veins.

Background: Chronic post-thoracotomy pain (PTPS) is a frequent complication of thoracic operations. Sometimes the pain is excruciating enough to impair activities of daily living (ADL). All thoracic procedures have the potential to cause trauma to the intercostal nerves due to retractor use, chest closure techniques, and or wound healing.

Stress, anxiety, and post-surgical chest pain are common problems among patients with thoracic surgical pathology. The way in which psychological distress is managed-the coping style-can influence the postsurgical evolution and quality of life of patients. In our study, we monitored the influence of coping style on patients' anxiety and the intensity of post-operative chest pain.

Background And Objectives: Chronic post-thoracotomy pain syndrome (PTPS) is a very common and uncomfortable complication, occurring frequently after thoracic operations, leading to the necessity of further medication and hospitalizations. One important risk factor in developing chronic pain is the chest closure technique, which can lead to chronic intercostal nerve damage. This study proposes an alternative nerve-sparring closure technique to standard peri-costal sutures, aimed toward minimizing the risk of chronic pain in selected patients.
