Introduction: postdate pregnant women with one previous caesarean section that are planned for vaginal birth after caesarean sections are faced with adverse pregnancy outcomes. This trial was conducted to determine the effect of serial membrane sweeping from 38 weeks gestation in pregnant women planned for vaginal birth after caesarean section.
Methods: this randomized controlled trial (RCT) was conducted on 90 women at 38 weeks with one previous caesarean section.

- The study aimed to compare blood loss during caesarean sections when the placenta is extracted from exteriorized versus non-exteriorized uteri.
- In total, 98 women were randomly assigned to each method, with results showing a higher incidence of blood loss ≥500ml in the non-exteriorized group (P<0.001).
- While the exteriorized group experienced less mean estimated blood loss (54.1mL lower), no significant differences were found in overall blood loss, surgery duration, or changes in hemoglobin levels between the groups.
