Patients with multiple myeloma develop a devastating bone disease driven by the uncoupling of bone remodelling, excess osteoclastic bone resorption and diminished osteoblastic bone formation. The bone phenotype is typified by focal osteolytic lesions leading to pathological fractures, hypercalcaemia and other catastrophic bone events such as spinal cord compression. This causes bone pain, impaired functional status, decreased quality of life and increased mortality.

Purpose: To investigate the short-term biologic effects of neoadjuvant chemotherapy +/- zoledronic acid (ZOL) in invasive breast cancer.

Experimental Design: Forty patients were randomized to receive a single 4 mg infusion of ZOL 24 hours after the first cycle of FE100C chemotherapy, or chemotherapy alone. Randomization was stratified for tumor stage, ER, HER2, and menopausal status.

Objective: The term gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN) encompasses a variety of uncommon neoplastic conditions arising from the placental trophoblast. Staging of GTN using the FIGO 2000 system divides patients into low and high risk groups and treatment of these patients depends on the risk score achieved. Chest x-ray (CXR) is recommended to assess lung metastases; however the significance of lung metastases seen on computed tomography (CT) scan of the chest is uncertain.
