There has been a renewed interest in Ce(3+) -activated halide phosphors due to applications as scintillation detectors, especially for positron emission tomography. For K(2) LaCl(5), the light yield increases and the energy resolution (FWHM) improves with increasing Ce(3+) doping. K(2) LaX(5) compounds are also important as laser hosts for the mid-IR range.

Glutathione, the dominant intracellular thiol, plays an important protective role against oxidative stress. The accidental findings of increased reduced glutathione level postprandially as compared to post absorptive level prompted the design of present study. Reduced Glutathione levels were estimated in 50 healthy individuals in post absorptive and postprandial phase by taking whole blood in ACD bulb.

A hospital based, group matched case control study was conducted with the objective to assess the association between tobacco consumption practices and risk of development of oro-pharyngeal cancer in Central India. The study included 123 cases of oro-pharyngeal cancer, diagnosed on the basis of histopathology at three tertiary care centers in Nagpur city. Each case was matched for age and sex with two hospital controls: one selected from non-cancer patients and another from patients having cancer of other sites.

Two antigen preparations from Mycobacterium tuberculosis and M. bovis, respectively, were used in an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to quantitate the level of IgG antibodies in samples of 169 sera obtained in India from 75 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and from 94 controls. The results of the two ELISA tests were integrated using defined criteria.
