Metaplastic breast cancer (MPBC) is a rare and aggressive tumor type in great need of satisfactory therapies. Although most cases of MPBC are 'triple negative', they are nonetheless related to worse outcomes compared with other triple-negative invasive tumors. MPBC presents high levels of genetic and molecular heterogeneity, suggesting that novel targeted therapies can be exploited.

Cutaneous complications of immunosuppression in 812 transplant recipients: a 40-year single center experience.

Background: As a consequence of the improvement in survival after solid organ transplantation, to visit transplant recipients with neoplastic and non-neoplastic skin disorders due to immunosuppressive treatment has become common for dermatologists.

Methods: Our endpoints were: 1) to investigate the most common skin diseases in a population of transplant recipients; 2) their associations with the type of immunosuppressant or transplant received; and 3) to compare our single center 40-year experience with the literature data. We retrospectively analyzed the clinical details of the adult patients transplanted in the years 1974-2014, visited for consultation at the Unit of Dermatology of our hospital.

Survey of bullous pemphigoid in an Italian university hospital: clinical-epidemiological characteristics and follow-up.

Background: The clinical-epidemiological characteristics and course of bullous pemphigoid in the general population is not clear. Few studies have been performed to date, and only one in the Italian population more than ten years ago. We decided to evaluate the characteristics and outcome of patients admitted for a bullous pemphigoid at our Hospital in the last 4 years.

Sorafenib is an oral multikinase inhibitor with anticancer activity against a wide spectrum of cancers. It is currently approved for the treatment of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, advanced renal cell carcinoma or progressive, locally advanced or metastatic differentiated thyroid carcinoma. In this review, we present a number of studies that investigated the efficacy and safety of sorafenib in these settings.

Importance: Few studies have used objective measures to evaluate the development of the normal pediatric voice. Cepstral analysis of continuous speech samples is a reliable method for gathering acoustic data; however, it has not been used to examine the changes that occur with voice development.

Objective: To establish and characterize acoustic patterns of the normal pediatric voice using cepstral analysis of voice samples from a normal pediatric voice database.

Sorafenib and locoregional deep electro-hyperthermia in advanced hepatocellular carcinoma: A phase II study.

The standard treatment for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is sorafenib, a multikinase inhibitor of tumor cell proliferation and angiogenesis. Hyperthermia inhibits angiogenesis and promotes apoptosis. Potential synergic antiangiogenic and proapoptotic effects represent the rationale for combining sorafenib with electro-hyperthermia (EHY) in HCC.
