Introduction: Approximately 15% of fine-needle aspiration (FNA) of thyroid nodules are considered nondiagnostic. Several factors are potentially involved, including clinical and nodule features but also the gauge (G) of the needle used. However, few studies have compared the cytological adequacy obtained with different gauge needles and the data are controversial.
