Background And Purpose: Several cases of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) associated with a COVID-19 infection have been recently reported. Rehabilitation might be a key player in the recovery of these highly complex patients however, results are yet unknown. Objective: This study aims to describe psychosocial status in lower limb amputees referred to a Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (PRM) department of a central Portuguese Hospital.

Methods: Cross-sectional study of 45 consecutive patients with lower limb amputation, referred to PMR consultation after hospital discharge. Of the initial sample, two patients were excluded from the analysis, and four patients refused to participate in the study.

Mechanical ventilation is probably the medical intervention which resulted in more lifes saved in the history of Medicine. However, it is associated with several potential deleterious consequences, especially when it's maintained for unnecessarily long periods or, on the other hand, when suspended before full recovery is attained. Shortening the duration of mechanical ventilation and of the weaning process should be a clinical priority, outweighing the risks of extubation failure.

A painful hip in a young adult may have its origin in different aetiologies, and both clinical history and physical examination are crucial for diagnostic guidance. The authors describe the case of a 28 year-old male, amateur football player, suffering from insidious progressive left cruralgia, with nocturnal and prolonged high-impact loading activities exacerbation, resulting in significant impairment of exercise tolerance, gait and other daily activities. He had a transitory response to non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs.

Complex regional pain syndrome is characterized by an over reaction to injury of one extremity, with severe pain (many times with allodynia), autonomic disturbance, trophic changes and delayed functional recovery. The authors present a case report of complex regional syndrome of the knee with atypical clinical onset and course, and review of the current knowledge of the condition and outline the methods of treatment available.
