Ineffective coughing affects bronchial hygiene and is a major contributor to respiratory complications after spinal cord injury (SCI). Mechanical insufflation-exsufflation (MIE) therapy increases inspiratory and expiratory flow to assist bronchial secretions clearance. We present a case of a 67-year-old cervical SCI patient with lung infection and partial atelectasis in the lower left lung, associated with difficult ventilator weaning.

Inpatient rehabilitation can improve functional outcomes of post-intensive care unit COVID-19 patients-a prospective study.

Purpose: To evaluate the impact of an inpatient multimodal and intensive rehabilitation program on neuromuscular, respiratory, and functional impairments of post-ICU COVID-19 patients.

Materials And Methods: Prospective study including post-ICU COVID-19 survivors consecutively admitted to a rehabilitation centre. Rehabilitation was conducted by an interdisciplinary team.

[Hip pain in young adults - a case report and review of the literature].

A painful hip in a young adult may have its origin in different aetiologies, and both clinical history and physical examination are crucial for diagnostic guidance. The authors describe the case of a 28 year-old male, amateur football player, suffering from insidious progressive left cruralgia, with nocturnal and prolonged high-impact loading activities exacerbation, resulting in significant impairment of exercise tolerance, gait and other daily activities. He had a transitory response to non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs.

[Knee complex regional pain syndrome type I: a case report].

Complex regional pain syndrome is characterized by an over reaction to injury of one extremity, with severe pain (many times with allodynia), autonomic disturbance, trophic changes and delayed functional recovery. The authors present a case report of complex regional syndrome of the knee with atypical clinical onset and course, and review of the current knowledge of the condition and outline the methods of treatment available.
