[Analysis of advertising on neurological drugs received during the medical consultation].

Drug promotion and advertisement by pharmaceutical industry influence medical prescription and, in some cases, the information provided is incomplete or biased. The objective was to analyze the advertisements delivered by medical representatives and determine if the information was appropriate for rational prescribing. It is a prospective study (March to November 2018) by collecting print advertisements randomly received in neurology centers.

A Critical View of "On TB Vaccines, Patients' Demands, and Modern Printed Media in Times of Biomedical Uncertainties: Buenos Aires, 1920-1950".

The putative Pueyo's vaccine was a commercial venture that obtained marketing authorization in 1946, a turbulent period of Argentine history. After a few months, health authorities withdrew financial support from the state to buy the vaccine and required patients to sign a written consent to receive that product. An independent investigation did not find any evidence of benefit in non-clinical and clinical evaluation of the putative vaccine.

Clozapine Rechallenge After Neutropenia or Leucopenia.

To rechallenge with clozapine for a patient who previously has experienced neutropenia or leucopenia or during clozapine treatment is a difficult clinical decision. Herein, we analyzed the results of such a rechallenge in 19 patients. We analyzed all the reports, from the database of the pharmacovigilance department of the Argentine National Administration of Drugs, Foods, and Medical Devices, of patients who were rechallenged with clozapine after a leucopenia or a neutropenia.

Clozapine-associated neutropenia and agranulocytosis in Argentina (2007-2012).

The risks of severe leukopenia and agranulocytosis have varied over time and among geographical regions and cultures, with little information available on South American populations. Accordingly, we reviewed and analyzed data from a 6-year experience monitored by an Argentine national registry to which reporting of adverse events reports is required. We analyzed data for 2007-2012 from the pharmacovigilance program of the Argentine drug-regulatory agency (ANMAT) using standard bivariate and multivariate statistical methods and survival analysis.

[Risk minimization evolution of agranulocytosis caused by the administration of pharmaceutical products containing Clozapine in Argentina].

Clozapine is an antipsychotic medication used in the treatment of schizophrenia. Compared to other drugs, Clozapine has shown remarkable advantages. However, its use entails a serious risk of causing hematologic alterations (including granulocytopenia/agranulocytosis).

[Issues regarding the legal regulation of drugs in Argentina].

This work describes the main functions and attributions of the National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (Administración Nacional de Medicamentos, Alimentos y Tecnología Médica, ANMAT) of Argentina in the control and supervision of pharmaceutical products. The four properties that a medicine must full-fill (efficacy, safety, quality and accessibility) are described, and the role of ANMAT with regard to each one is specified. Criteria employed in the classification of pharmaceutical products marketed in Argentina with the regulatory agency permission are specified, and a reference to pharmaceutical products not registered before the Agency is also included.

Transferring the financial risks of pharmaceutical benefits from a large health care provider in Argentina to a consortium of pharmaceutical companies.

Objective: The National Institute of Social Services for Retirees and Pensioners (NISSRP) is a nationwide health care financing agency and service provider in Argentina. Among its services, the NISSRP provides outpatient drug coverage to more than 3.3 million beneficiaries, mainly senior citizens and disabled persons.

[Declaration of Helsinki: its vicissitudes during the last five years].

The Declaration of Helsinki is one of the major ethical guidelines for conducting clinical research. Along its existence it has been modified on diverse occasions, the latest one in October 2000. The objective of this article is to carry out a revision of the discussions that were taken up at this latest modification and the debates raised since its promulgation which still continue, fundamentally in relation to the use of placebo in pharmacological clinical investigation.
