Cardiac Function is Preserved in Adolescents With Well-Controlled Type 1 Diabetes and a Normal Physical Fitness: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Objectives: Cardiovascular diseases and exercise intolerance elevate mortality in type 1 diabetes (T1D). Left ventricular systolic and diastolic function are already affected in adolescents with T1D, displaying poor glycemic control (glycated hemoglobin [A1C]>7.5%) and exercise intolerance.

Grommet and adenoid pain evaluation (GRAPE) study.

In the GRAPE study an analysis is made of postoperative pain sensation in children between 6 months and 6 years after adenotomy and placement of ear grommets. Intraoperative treatment with paracetamol versus placebo shows no statistically significant difference in pain between both groups indicating that this type of surgery causes little discomfort and does not require specific intraoperative analgesic treatment.

[Experiences with endonasal ethmoidectomy].

The surgical technique of intranasal ethmoidectomy is described just as the utility of it, thinking of the pathogenesis of ethmoid, maxillary and frontal sinusitis. Besides, a group of 60 patients is studied. All patients underwent an intranasal ethmoidectomy.

Separation of molybdenum and technetium on DI-2-ethylhexylphosphoric acid (D-2-EHPA)-kieselguhr.

The distribution ratio of Mo(VI) and Tc(VII) in different acid media on D-2-EHPA-kieselguhr was studied in batch experiments. From these data a separation procedure for Mo-Tc is proposed, which consists in the selective elution of Tc(VII) and Mo(VI) by reverse-phase partition chromatography. The D-2-EHPA-kieselguhr column can also be used as a solid phase for a(99m)Tc generator.
