Aims: Psychological care is recognised as an integral part of quality diabetes care. We set out to describe the roles and competencies of the clinical psychologist as a member of the multidisciplinary adult diabetes care team, focused on secondary care.
Methods: The authors are clinically experienced psychologists involved in adult diabetes care, from Australia, Europe and North America, and active members of the international psychosocial aspects of diabetes study group.
Aims: The aim of the study was to adapt the German version of the insulin pump therapy (IPA) questionnaire to Italian (IT-IPA) and to evaluate its psychometric properties in adults with type 1 diabetes.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study, data were collected through an online survey. In addition to IT-IPA, questionnaires evaluating depression, anxiety, diabetes distress, self-efficacy, and treatment satisfaction were administered.
Introduction: Limited English proficiency (LEP) is linked to lower health care access and worse clinical outcomes. This study aims to explore the potential role of LEP on clinical outcomes of pediatric burn patients.
Methods: We conducted a single-institution retrospective study of burn patients presenting at a tertiary pediatric burn referral program between January 2016 and December 2020.
Background: Burn injury risk, severity, and outcomes have been associated with socioeconomic status. Limited data exist to evaluate health access-related influences at a structural population level. This study evaluated factors at the Census-tract level, specifically evaluating food access and social vulnerability in pediatric scald burns.

Assessment of personality profile, awareness of disease, family and social support of the patient candidate for kidney transplantation are necessary because factors not adequately considered, can influence the success of the transplant and alter the psychological stability of the patient. The present study aims to provide a systematic review of the literature of the last twelve years (2006-2018), focusing in particular on patient's readiness level and illness management and on possible psychopathology.

However, the influence of both individual and family factors on glycaemic control has not been adequately investigated yet. This study aimed at examining the relationship between perceived family functioning and depressive symptoms with the frequency of capillary self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) and glycaemic control (HbA) in a large sample of adults with T1D.

Aim: To investigate the association of glycemic control with depression, anxiety, self-efficacy and other diabetes-specific psychological measures in a cohort of adult patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) free of severe chronic diabetes-related complications.
Methods And Results: In 172 T2D outpatients consecutively recruited at the Diabetes Center of Verona City Hospital, we performed a standard medical assessment and completed the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II), the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and the Multidimensional Diabetes Questionnaire (MDQ) Age, body mass index (BMI) and glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) were (median [IQR]): 64.0 [58.
Aim: To assess the influence of health locus of control and fear of hypoglycaemia on metabolic control and treatment satisfaction in people with Type 1 diabetes mellitus on continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion.
Methods: People with Type 1 diabetes on continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion for at least 1 year, sub-classified as an 'acceptable glucose control' group [HbA ≤ 58 mmol/mol (7.5%)] and a 'suboptimum glucose control' group [HbA > 58 mmol/mol (7.
Objective: To assess the psychometric properties of the Italian adaptation of the Hypomania-Check-List 32-item, second revision (HCL-32-R2) for the detection of bipolarity in major depressive disorder (MDD) treatment-seeking outpatients.
Methods: A back-to-back Italian adaption of the "Bipolar Disorders: Improving Diagnosis, Guidance, and Education" English module of the HCL-32-R2 was administered between March 2013 and October 2014 across twelve collaborating sites in Italy. Diagnostic and Statistical Manual Fourth edition (DSM-IV) diagnoses were made adopting the mini-international neuropsychiatric interview, using bipolar disorder (BD) patients as controls.
Renal transplantation is a well established treatment for end-stage renal disease, allowing most patients to return to a satisfactory quality of life. Studies have identified many problems that may affect adaptation to the transplanted condition and post-operative compliance. The psychological implications of transplantation have important consequences even on strictly physical aspects.

Methods: A systematic review was conducted in accordance with the PRISMA statement searching major electronic databases for documents indexed between January, 2000 and July, 2014. Eligible studies were those including quantitative data on prevalence rates and clinical features associated to BD-migraine comorbidity; case reports excluded.
Background: Our aim was to evaluate the changes of health-related Quality of Life (HR-QoL) after bariatric surgery.
Patients And Methods: 110 patients, who underwent laparoscopic bariatric surgery (N=34 gastric banding; N= 69 Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, N=7 sleeve gastrectomy), were evaluated before surgery and after an average of 36±13 months with SF-36 Health Survey.
Results: Mean preoperative age and body mass index (BMI) were 43±12 years and 45±7 kg/m2 respectively.
