Bortezomib (BORT) is an anti-tumour agent that inhibits proteasome, which is responsible for the degradation of many intracellular proteins. Although some side-effects and chemotherapeutic effects of BORT are known, there has not been enough research regarding its effects on different tissues of proteasome inhibition in the senile period (post-menopausal). The aim of this study was to investigate the safety of using BORT during the post-menopausal period.

Methods: Patients with alopecia areata and healthy controls were enrolled in this case-control study. Genotyping of the IL12 (1188A/C), IL17 (A7488G) and IL23R (+2199A/C) polymorphisms was undertaken.
Objective: Male pattern androgenetic alopecia is characterized by progressive hair loss from the scalp. It is known that imbalances of some trace elements play a role in the pathomechanism of many forms of alopecia. The aim of this study was to evaluate the levels of zinc and copper in hair, serum and urine samples of Turkish males with male pattern androgenetic alopecia and to compare with healthy controls.

Methods: Patients with vitiligo and healthy control subjects were included in the study. Patients in the vitiligo group were treated with an NB-UVB regimen (3 × weekly for 6 months).
Objectives: To assess clinical and laboratory parameters associated with metabolic syndrome in Turkish patients with moderate or severe plaque-type psoriasis and nonpsoriatic controls.
Methods: Patients with moderate or severe plaque psoriasis (patient group) or with nonpsoriatic dermatological disease (controls) were included. Waist circumference, weight, height and arterial blood pressure were measured, together with fasting blood glucose, triglyceride, high density lipoprotein (HDL), fibrinogen, homocysteine and adiponectin levels.
Haim-Munk syndrome is an extremely rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized clinically by palmoplantar hyperkeratosis, aggressive periodontitis with severe alveolar bone destruction, onychogryphosis, pes planus, arachnodactyly, and acro-osteolysis. Consanguinity seems a notable prerequisite. The aim of this study was therefore to report one case of this syndrome and to focus on the periodontal manifestations, in order to attract the attention of dental clinicians to this rare anomaly.

Objective: To study the common features of the young girls with vulvar ulcerations, and to help guide physicians caring for girls with this unusual condition.
Methods: In this retrospective study, ten patients who developed vulvar ulcerations and denied any kind of sexual contact or sexual abuse were identified. Patient information was collated from detailed history, physical, and laboratory examinations including age, menarchal status, type of clothing worn, whether history of oral aphthosis or previous vulvar ulcers had occurred, symptoms at the time of presentation, description of ulcer, laboratory studies including serologies, blood count, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, C-reactive protein, and biopsy results.
The case of a 14-year-old girl suffering from Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome associated with multiple port-wine stain type vascular anomalies and varicose veins involving upper limbs is described. Finger deformations are common in Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome. In our patient, striking hypertrophy of soft tissues and overgrowth of bones were observed on both forearms and finger deformations were observed particularly on right thumb and index finger.

Anastrozole has also been used in the treatment of dermatomyositis skin eruptions but its direct effects on skin have not been well documented.
Objective: To study the effects of anastrozole administration on neonatal rat skin.
Purpose: To determine whether twinkling artifacts on color and power Doppler sonography could be used as a new sonographic sign of intrauterine fetal demise (IUFD).
Methods: In this prospective study, 24 consecutive pregnant women with IUFD were included after fetal sonographic examinations. Sonographic examination included gray-scale, color, power, and spectral Doppler imaging.

Objective: To assess neurotological status and its ophthalmological correlates in Behçet's disease.
Study Design: A cross sectional study in which 17 patients with Behçet's disease and 13 healthy controls were included.
Patients And Methods: The patients were divided into two groups: those with and without end stage ocular involvement.
Objective: The aim of the present study was to examine whether or not the administration of vitamin A (VA) protects against methotrexate (MTX)-induced damage to small intestinal epithelium.
Materials And Methods: Sixty-three male Wistar albino rats, 10-12 weeks old, weighing 240-280 g, were divided into three groups: (1) controls, (2) rats receiving MTX treatment alone, and (3) rats receiving MTX plus VA treatment. A single dose of MTX (20 mg/kg MTX in 20 ml vehicle) was administered to the rats intraperitoneally.
A case of endometriosis infiltrating the Bartholin gland is presented. The initial diagnosis was a Bartholin gland cyst. The clinical diagnosis was made during the operation when chocolate-colored fluid poured into operation field.

Background: Behçet's syndrome is a chronic systemic immuno-inflammatory disorder affecting multiple organs with generalized vasculitis of arteries and veins. Although the aetiology is still unknown, endothelial dysfunction is one of the most prominent features in Behçet's syndrome. The skin pathergy reaction (SPR) is a non-specific hyperreactive lesion formation that is one of the major features and diagnostic criteria of the disease.

Materials And Methods: The tissues were stained immunohistologically with p53 and bcl-2. Ten cases were selected as well differentiated (large cell keratinizing) carcinoma, ten cases moderately differentiated (large cell non keratinizing) carcinoma and ten cases poorly differentiated carcinoma (includes small cell squamous cell carcinoma).
Notalgia paresthetica is an isolated mononeuropathy involving the skin over or near the scapula. The cause remains unknown. We histologically observed a significant increase in the number of dermal nerves in a case of notalgia paresthetica.

In schizophrenic patients who were on risperidone treatment (n = 11) and in healthy volunteers (n = 11), volumes of the hippocampi were estimated using magnetic resonance images (MRIs). A detailed systematic series of coronal MRIs of the entire brain (3 mm thickness, T(1)-weighted, TR/TE 400/10 ms) was obtained for each subject.

Tumor of the follicular infundibulum (TFI) is a rare epithelial tumor, and its histogenesis is still somewhat debatable. The diagnosis of TFI cannot currently be made before biopsy, and it is most often misdiagnosed as basal cell carcinoma (BCC). A 78-year-old woman presented to the dermatology clinic with a slightly erythematous nodule surrounded by fine telangiectasia on her right temple.

Objectives: To investigate a potential association between the beta-2-adrenergic receptor (B2AR) polymorphisms occurring at amino acid positions 16 (Arg16Gly) and 27 (Gln27Glu) and preterm labor.
Methods: Eighty patients with preterm labor and 76 control subjects were analyzed by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP).
Results: A significant association was found between Gln27Glu substitution and preterm labor (P=0.
Background: Tamoxifen (Tx) is used mostly in the treatment of breast and gynecological cancers. It is also widely used in the treatment of different dermatological disorders. However, its effects on skin have not been investigated previously.

To determine the standard width and shape of the nasolacrimal canal (NLC) in the coronal plane, a retrospective review of 950 coronal paranasal CT sections was undertaken. The coronal diameter of NLC was measured at its upper and lower ends and anomalies in its configuration noted. The mean diameters of the NLC were 4.
