Does Lymphovenous Anastomosis Effect Mammalian Target of Rapamycin Inhibitor-associated Lymphedema Patients?

The mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) inhibitors are used to prevent organ transplant rejection and are preferred over other immunosuppressants due to its low nephrotoxicity. However, mTOR inhibitors have been associated with various adverse effects including lymphedema. Although rare in incidence, previously known treatments for mTOR inhibitor-induced lymphedema were limited to discontinuation of related drugs and complex disruptive therapy with variable results.

Specialty impact on residents' perceived quality of life, stress, and job satisfaction: a comparative study.

Purpose: Specialty choice in residency training has a significant impact on an individual's career and satisfaction, as well as the supply-demand imbalance in the healthcare system. The current study aimed to investigate the quality of life (QOL), stress, self-confidence, and job satisfaction of residents, and to explore factors associated with such variables, including postgraduate year, sex, and especially specialty, through a cross-sectional survey.

Methods: An online survey was administered to residents at 2 affiliated teaching hospitals.

Stereoselective Synthesis of 1,4,5-Tri-cis-guaiane Sesquiterpene: First Total Synthesis of (-)-Dendroside C Aglycon.

The first total synthesis of (-)-dendroside C aglycon, consisting of a 1,4,5-tri-cis-guaiane skeleton, from a versatile hydroazulene intermediate has been accomplished. The key features of the syntheses include the stereoselective preparation of the unusual cis-hydroazulene core via a sequence of a unique Dieckmann condensation of the bicyclic lactone system, which was concisely prepared by the tandem conjugate addition and intramolecular allylic alkylation of a butenolide precursor, and construction of the characteristic tricyclic skeleton by a carbene-mediated cyclopropanation.

Divergent synthetic route to new cyclopenta[c]pyran iridoids: syntheses of jatamanin A, F, G and J, gastrolactone and nepetalactone.

Six natural iridoids including jatamanin A, F, G and J, gastrolactone and nepetalactone have been synthesized via the efficient transformation of a core cyclopenta[c]pyran intermediate. Key features of the syntheses include the stereoselective construction of the core cyclopenta[c]pyran skeleton of the iridoid lactones via a Pd(0)-catalyzed intramolecular allylic alkylation, and the facile transformation of the common intermediate into natural iridoids.
