The study introduces LC Bead LUMI™, a new microspherical embolic agent that can be imaged during transarterial embolization of liver tumors, designed for improved tracking during procedures.
The methodology involved injecting iodinated microbeads into the hepatic arteries of three patients, employing advanced imaging techniques like cone beam CT and digital subtraction angiography to monitor the embolization process.
Results showed that the microbeads could be effectively monitored, revealing areas of potential under-treatment within tumors; further research is suggested to better assess bead distribution as a factor in treatment effectiveness.
