Primary immunodeficiency (PID) is one of the causes of secondary autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) and Evans' syndrome (ES). Serum immunoglobulins should be tested in patients with AIHA/ES, as common variable immunodeficiency is the most common PID of secondary AIHA/ES. However, it is not fully understood how immunodeficiency is assessed, in addition to serum immunoglobulins.

Methods: Data were collected from 101 patients, aged 15 - 65 years, undergoing initial IST.
Results: No significant imbalance in age, sex, or severity was observed between the EPAG (n = 20) and non-EPAG (n = 81) groups.
Fabrication of engineered intestinal tissues with the structures and functions as humans is crucial and promising as the tools for developing drugs and functional foods. The aim of this study is to fabricate an engineered intestinal tissue from Caco-2 cells by air-liquid interface culture using a paper-based dual-layer scaffold and analyze its structure and functions. Just by simply placing on a folded paper soaked in the medium, the electrospun gelatin microfiber mesh as the upper cell adhesion layer of the dual-layer scaffold was exposed to the air, while the lower paper layer worked to preserve and supply the cell culture medium to achieve stable culture over several weeks.

We report the case of a 75-year-old man for whom tirabrutinib, a second-generation Bruton's tyrosine kinase inhibitor (BTKi), was useful in treating WM-associated peripheral neuropathy (PN) with BNS. Numbness and muscle weakness in the fingers occurred three years after the initial treatment of WM.

Compact and fiber-closed QFC modules are in high demand for such applications. In this paper, we report such a QFC module based on a fiber-coupled 4-port frequency converter with a periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) waveguide.

This problem is compounded with plerixafor use, a stem cell-mobilizing drug that increases leukapheresis efficiency but requires administration the day before leukapheresis. Use of this drug for a second leukapheresis procedure before the first-day leukapheresis CD34 count results are confirmed causes unnecessary leukapheresis and expensive plerixafor administration.

Objectives: To examine whether the care at EOL for HMs is mainly because of the disease characteristics or hematologists' attitudes and systems of care, we compared the EOL care of patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL).
A frequency-multiplexed entangled photon pair and a high-dimensional hyperentangled photon pair are useful to realize a high-capacity quantum communication. A biphoton frequency comb (BFC) with entanglement can be used to prepare both states. We demonstrate polarization entangled BFCs with over 1400 frequency modes, which is approximately two orders of magnitude larger than those of earlier entangled BFCs, by placing a singly resonant periodically poled LiNbO waveguide resonator within a Sagnac loop.

We evaluated the outcome of this regimen. Methods We evaluated >60-year-old patients with newly diagnosed PCNSL who received R-MPV plus WBRT from January 2010 to December 2019 at Toyohashi Municipal Hospital.

Colonisation by Bifidobacterium and Bacteroides and development of intestinal immunity is interconnected. We performed a prospective observational cohort study to determine the influence of antibiotics taken by the mother immediately before delivery on the intestinal microbiome of 130 healthy Japanese infants.

The prognosis of HCL-v is much worse than that of classical hairy cell leukemia and there is no consensus regarding the optimal treatment strategy for HCL-v. For patients with indolent lymphoma, rituximab plus bendamustine (RB) has proven effective in several clinical trials.

We monolithically constructed the photon pair generator by a periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) waveguide with a high reflective coating for the signal photons around 1600 nm and with antireflective coatings for the idler photons around 1520 nm and the pump light at 780 nm at the end faces of the PPLN waveguide. We observed a comblike photon pair generation with a mode spacing of the free spectral range of the cavity.

The purpose of this paper is to evaluate team performance, clinical performance and psychological stress simultaneously in a simulation-based training combined with or without the TeamSTEPPS program.
Design/methodology/approach: This randomized, controlled, prospective pilot study was performed to reveal TeamSTEPPS impact on psychological stress.
An all-optical network is identified as a promising infrastructure for fast and energy-efficient communication. Recently, it has been shown that its quantum version based on 'all-photonic quantum repeaters'-inheriting, at least, the same advantages-expands its possibility to the quantum realm, that is, a global quantum internet with applications far beyond the conventional Internet. Here we report a proof-of-principle experiment for a key component for the all-photonic repeaters-called all-photonic time-reversed adaptive (TRA) Bell measurement, with a proposal for the implementation.

We previously demonstrated that the vector-driven expression of MEF2D fusion proteins was markedly stronger than that of wild-type MEF2D; however, the underlying mechanisms and significance of this expression have yet to be clarified. We herein showed that the strong expression of MEF2D fusion proteins was caused by the loss of the target site of miRNA due to gene translocation.

Trapped atomic ions are ideal single photon emitters with long-lived internal states which can be entangled with emitted photons. Coupling the ion to an optical cavity enables the efficient emission of single photons into a single spatial mode and grants control over their temporal shape. These features are key for quantum information processing and quantum communication.

While spatially separated sources asynchronously emit photon pairs, the time-resolved photon detection guarantees the temporal indistinguishability of photons without active timing synchronizations of pump lasers and/or adjustment of optical paths. In the experiment, photons are sufficiently narrowed by fiber-based Bragg gratings with the central wavelengths of 1541 nm & 1580 nm, and detected by superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors with low timing jitters.
