The human polyomaviruses BKPyV and JCPyV are members of Polyomaviridae family and after primary infections they persist as latent infection especially in the kidneys. BKVPy reactivation is mainly related to a renal nephropathy and JCV reactivation can induce the progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy.
