Individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have a higher prevalence of social memory impairment. A series of our previous studies revealed that hippocampal ventral CA1 (vCA1) neurons possess social memory engram and that the neurophysiological representation of social memory in the vCA1 neurons is disrupted in ASD-associated Shank3 knockout mice. However, whether the dysfunction of Shank3 in vCA1 causes the social memory impairment observed in ASD remains unclear.

However, the perceptual mechanisms involved in successful anticipation are not fully understood. This study examined the relationships between the magnitude of representational momentum (RM) as a forward displacement of the memory representation of the final position of a moving object (which implies that observers perceptually "see" a near future forthcoming dynamic environmental state) and the temporal and spatial anticipatory judgments of the opponent's high or middle kicks in taekwondo.

This report describes a minimally invasive direct puncture technique for the transverse sinus to treat a complex dural arteriovenous fistula in a hybrid operating room.
Case: The patient was a 64-year-old man with intractable status epilepticus.
Various surgical treatments are available for occlusive subclavian and common carotid artery diseases. Nevertheless, to date, when cerebral endovascular treatment is utilized, revascularization via direct surgery may be required. This study reported five symptomatic cases of revascularization for CCA and SCA occlusive and stenotic lesions that were expected to be challenging to treat with endovascular treatment.

This study aimed to assess the impact of ATB use on therapeutic response in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) receiving atezolizumab plus bevacizumab.
Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed 105 patients with HCC treated with atezolizumab plus bevacizumab as a primary systemic therapy from prospectively-registered, multicenter, cohorts.
A 53-year-old man who had a history of ulcerative colitis (UC) for 2 years underwent colonoscopy as regular follow-up. The results showed an elevated lesion in the descending colon, which was diagnosed as plasmablastic lymphoma (PBL) based on pathological findings. In situ hybridization for the Epstein-Barr virus-encoded RNA probe was positive.

We previously reported that serum fucosylated haptoglobin (Fuc-Hp) levels increase as the disease progresses from chronic hepatitis to cirrhosis and then HCC. However, it remains unclear whether serum Fuc-Hp levels can stratify the risk of HCC occurrence after a sustained virological response (SVR) is achieved with direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) in patients with advanced liver fibrosis.

Residual false lumen in the aortic root and mild to moderate aortic regurgitation were noted postoperatively. Two and a half years later, he presented with hemolytic anemia and shortness of breath.

Many studies have shown evidence of various perceptual and cognitive characteristics of RM in various daily aspects, sports, development, and aging. Here we examined the longitudinal developmental changes in the displacement magnitudes of RM among younger (5-year-old) and older (6-year-old) nursery school children for pointing and judging tasks.

Identifying predictors for HCC incidence in patients without advanced liver fibrosis will enable efficient post-SVR HCC surveillance. This study aimed to develop a scoring system to predict the incidence of HCC after SVR in HCV patients without advanced liver fibrosis.

To conduct a comparative examination of the MSRS structure in two Asian samples, participants were 236 Japanese university students (136 men, 100 women; = 18.0, = 1.

Rebleeding after peptic ulcer bleeding is believed to be a risk factor for mortality. This study aimed to evaluate whether renal dysfunction is a predictor of rebleeding after endoscopic hemostasis in patients with peptic ulcer bleeding.

However, moving room experiments show that even small-amplitude body sway can evoke odd sensations or motion sickness, indicating that a consciousness factor may also be involved. Studies targeting perception of self-motion, vection, typically use rapid visual stimuli moving in a single direction to maintain a constant feeling of vection, and there are few studies of vection using low-speed sinusoidal visual stimuli similar to human pendular movement.

This study evaluated the safety and efficacy of abiraterone acetate plus prednisolone in castration-resistant prostate cancer patients with or without previous chemotherapy in a real-world setting in Japan.
Methods: This study was an observational, prospective, post-marketing surveillance.
A 14 year-old boy developed infective endocarditis of the mitral valve caused by Methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus and became comatose. Isolated basilar artery dissection was initially observed on the 3rd day by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ie, it did not exist on day 1. He underwent successful urgent mitral valve repair on the 5th day because of highly mobile vegetations and a newly emerged brain infarction under optimal antibiotic administration.

In this subpopulation analysis of Selective Prostate Androgen Receptor Targeting with ARN-509 study, the efficacy and safety of apalutamide plus ADT were evaluated in Japanese patients with nm-CRPC.
Methods: The primary efficacy end point was MFS.

Objectives: There is a growing body of literature examining age-related overestimation of one's own physical ability, which is a potential risk of falls in older adults, but it is unclear what leads them to overestimate. This study aimed to examine 3-year longitudinal changes in self-estimated step-over ability, along with one key risk factor: low frequency of going outdoors (FG), which is a measure of poor daily physical activity.
Method: This cohort study included 116 community-dwelling older adults who participated in baseline and 3-year follow-up assessments.

Methods: This integrated analysis of data of Japanese patients from 2 global Phase 3 studies, SPARTAN ( NCT01946204 ; patients with non-metastatic castration-resistant PC [nmCRPC]) and TITAN ( NCT02489318 ; patients with metastatic castration-sensitive PC [mCSPC]), and the Phase 1 study 56021927PCR1008 ( NCT02162836 ; patients with metastatic CRPC [mCRPC]), assessed clinical risk factors of apalutamide-related skin rash as well as the potential correlation with plasma exposure to apalutamide. Kaplan-Meier method was used for time-to-event analyses.
Background And Aim: Although the serum sodium level has been reported to be a prognostic and predictive marker for the therapeutic effects of lung cancer and renal cell carcinoma treated with molecular targeted therapy, the serum sodium level has not been investigated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients treated with sorafenib. The aim of our analysis was to assess the prognostic role of serum sodium levels in these patients.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 341 HCC patients treated with sorafenib between 2009 and 2012 in our hospital and other related institutions.
Background: Capnocytophaga canimorsus is a gram-negative bacterium and an oral commensal in dogs and cats, but occasionally causes serious infections in humans. Septicemia is one of the most fulminant forms, but diagnosis of C. canimorsus infection is often difficult mainly because of its very slow growth.
