Background: The passive fit of 3-unit implant supported prefabricated metal screw-retained prosthesis before implant placement might be difficult. Hence, we aim to evaluate the passive fit and time efficiency of CAD/CAM 3-unit implant supported fixed prostheses that were constructed based on virtual versus those based on actual implant positions in Kennedy Class I models.
Methods: A sample of 5 Kennedy class I models with thin wiry ridges were restored by 20 frameworks bilaterally, 10 based on actual (group A) and 10 based on virtual (group V) implant positions.
Background: Immediate implant placement using vestibular socket therapy (VST) proved to offer a successful treatment option in compromised sockets. However, the presence of active signs infection complicates immediate implants in sockets with defective labial plates, due to the possible contamination of the implant or the bone graft with existing infected tissues or oral environment via the fistula. This study, therefore, aims to explore the success of immediate implant placement using VST in managing infected compromised sockets.

Basic Procedures: Thirteen patients with 3 types of nasal defects were selected and digitally scanned using an IOS with (ScM) and without artificial markers (Sc). Patients were grouped as follows; Group T (total nasal defect), Group P (partial/subtotal nasal defect), Group C (congenital defect).

View Article and Find Full Text PDFObjective: The present randomized controlled trial compares for the first time the vestibular socket therapy (VST) to the contour augmentation technique in the management of compromised fresh extraction sockets in the maxillary esthetic zone, regarding mid-facial soft tissue changes (primary outcome), mesial and distal papillae dimensions, horizontal soft tissue changes and labial bone plate thickness at apical, middle and coronal levels (secondary outcomes) over 1-year.
Materials And Methods: Forty participants with single nonrestorable maxillary teeth in the esthetic zone were randomized into two groups; VST (test; n = 20) utilizing vestibular access for guided bone regeneration (GBR) with immediate implant placement, or contour augmentation (control; n = 20) undergoing an initial healing period followed by implant placement with GBR through a conventional access flap.
Results: All implants were successfully osseo-integrated, except for one implant in the test group.
Purpose: The purpose of this systematic review was to compare neuro-sensory dysfunction incidence between saw and piezotomes in patients requiring bilateral sagittal split osteotomy.
Methods: Searches were performed electronically in 4 databases (PubMed, LILACS, Cochrane Library, and grey literature) up to September 2020 and manually to identify studies addressing the subject. Randomized and non-randomized clinical trials were included.

Materials And Methods: Twenty-seven compromised fresh extraction sockets were managed using vestibular socket therapy and immediate implant placement. After immediate implant placement, a cortical bone shield was stabilised through a vestibular incision.
Source of funding This research did not receive any specific grant from funding agencies in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectorsType of study/design Randomised controlled trial (RCT) with parallel design.Subjects This RCT was conducted at the Clinic of Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics and Dental Material Science, Centre of Dental Medicine, University of Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland. Ten patients, six women and four men, with a mean age of 62 years and an age range of 49-77 years, requiring posterior tooth-supported 3-unit fixed partial dentures (FPDs) were included in this RCT.

Selection criteria The inclusion criteria of this systematic review were patients undergoing dental implant placement. Only randomised clinical trials (RCTs) that compared placebo, no antibiotic and/or any type of antibiotics, administered pre-operatively, intra-operatively, post-operatively or combinations of these, at any dose and for any duration were considered eligible. Included RCTs were required to have a follow up period of at least three months with at least 20 patients per treatment arm.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFLack of retrievability is one of the most important disadvantages of cement-retained implant restorations. A straightforward and cost-effective technique for accessing the abutment screw channel and unscrewing the abutment and cement-retained prosthesis as 1 unit is described. The technique does not jeopardize the integrity of the restoration, screw, abutment, or implant.
