We have recently have developed an in-situ multiple-channel depth distribution spectrometer (DDS) that can easily acquire on-site measurements of the depth distribution of specific radioactivities of Cs-134 and Cs-137 underground. Despite considerable improvements in the hardware developed for this device, the quantitative method for determining of radioactivities with this DDS device cannot yet achieve satisfactory performance for practical use. For example, this method cannot discriminate each γ-ray spectra of Cs-134 and Cs-137 acquired by the 20 thallium-doped caesium iodine CsI(Tl) scintillation crystal detectors of the DDS device from corresponding depth levels of underground soil.

However, in a transection-regeneration model, the completeness of the transection is often a matter of dispute. We established a method for shortening the rat spine and spinal cord to provide a spinal cord injury (SCI) model in which there was no doubt about whether the axonal transection was complete.

Here we present the short-term morbidity and preliminary outcomes of the shorter fractionation regimen initiated at the Kawasaki Medical School Hospital in 2003.
Methods: Between January 2003 and December 2005, 248 patients (251 breasts) with breast cancer underwent short-course RT following BCS.
Ten patients with cervical spinal schwannomas were operated using a new posterior approach, termed cervical hemilaminoplasty. A thread wire saw (T-saw) was used to cut the lamina at the center of the spinous process and at the unilateral pars interarticularis on the affected side. The unilateral lamina, the inferior articular process, and half of the spinous process were resected as a single mass.

However, the therapy is associated with a comparatively high incidence of gastrointestinal disorders and requires hospitalization. We have proposed a new regimen of Docetaxel and TS-1 with radiation for maintaining of QOL and improving outcome.

We present the results of studies for cervical nerve root functions in patients with cervical schwannoma using intraoperative electrophysiologic assessment and the potential of their clinical relevance is also discussed.
Objective: To present the utility of intraoperative electrophysiologic studies to detect the functions of the nerve roots involved in cervical schwannoma and adjacent nerve roots.
Background: Postoperative motor dominant C5 paralysis was known as one of several complications after laminoplasty. Several theories have been proposed for postoperative segmental paralysis after laminoplasty, but its etiology remains unclear.
Objective: To investigate the possible mechanism for postoperative motor dominant C5 paralysis from intraoperative electrophysiological studies using evoked spinal cord potentials (ESCPs).
Objective: Use epidural recording of evoked spinal cord potentials (ESCPs) to investigate the pathology of cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM) in patients with normal central motor conduction time (CMCT) in upper and lower limbs.
Methods: A total of 75 patients with CSM were studied. All patients were examined before surgery for motor evoked potentials (MEPs) following transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).
Carcinoma of the extrahepatic bile ducts was treated in 25 patients by radiation therapy between 1974 and 1981. Seventeen patients were men and eight were women, and the average age was 59.2 years.
