A Heat Flux Sensor (HFS) facilitates the visualization of heat flow, unlike a temperature sensor, and is anticipated to be a key technology in managing waste heat. Recently, an HFS utilizing the Anomalous Nernst Effect (ANE) has been proposed garnering significant interest in enhancing the transverse thermopower. However, ideal materials for HFS not only require a large transverse thermopower but also meet several criteria including low thermal conductivity and a bipolar nature of the transverse thermopower, especially a negative transverse thermopower.

Usefulness of a long hood for the detection of bleeding sites in colonic diverticular hemorrhage: A randomized controlled trial.

Background And Aim: The use of a hood at the tip of a colonoscope enables aspiration, inversion of the diverticulum, and observation of the inside of the diverticulum. In most previous studies, a short hood was used; however, observation of the diverticulum is often inadequate. Long food is promising by previous research, but it was a retrospective study using propensity matching and has some limitations.

Linked-color imaging with or without artificial intelligence for adenoma detection: a randomized trial.

Background: Adenoma detection rate (ADR) is an important indicator of colonoscopy quality and colorectal cancer incidence. Both linked-color imaging (LCI) with artificial intelligence (LCA) and LCI alone increase adenoma detection during colonoscopy, although it remains unclear whether one modality is superior. This study compared ADR between LCA and LCI alone, including according to endoscopists' experience (experts and trainees) and polyp size.

Coffee and caffeine intake reduces risk of ulcerative colitis: a case-control study in Japan.

Background And Aim: Although diet is one of the potential environmental factors affecting ulcerative colitis (UC), evidence is not sufficient to draw definitive conclusions. This Japanese case-control study examined the association between the consumption of coffee, other caffeine-containing beverages and food, and total caffeine and the risk of UC.

Long-chain acyl-CoA synthetase (ACSL) 4 converts polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) into their acyl-CoAs and plays an important role in maintaining PUFA-containing membrane phospholipids. Here we demonstrated decreases in various kinds of PUFA-containing phospholipid species in ACSL4-deficient murine lung. We then examined the effects of ACSL4 gene deletion on lung injury by treating mice with two pulmonary toxic chemicals: paraquat (PQ) and methotrexate (MTX).

Intussusception associated with pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis in a male adolescent: A case report.

Pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis is an uncommon disease that rarely causes intussusception. We report the case of a 16-year-old male patient with intermittent abdominal pain who was diagnosed with intussusception. The patient had no history of raw food ingestion, fever, diarrhea, or hematochezia.

Duodenal gastric-type neoplasm with uncertain malignant potential in a lipoma.

The pathologic diagnosis of duodenal tumors is a developing field; however, its overview remains unclear. We describe a rare case of a duodenal gastric-type neoplasm in a 50-year-old woman. She visited her primary care doctor with complaints of upper abdominal pain, tarry stools, and shortness of breath on exertion.

AdvanCE, a capsule endoscope delivery device, is effective in investigating a waterfall stomach.

AdvanCE is a useful device in patients who cannot swallow capsule endoscopes, or when these remain in the patient's stomach without passing into the duodenum. A net or snare may be used to guide the capsule endoscope into the duodenum when the capsule endoscope becomes stuck in the stomach, but it may be difficult to guide the capsule into the duodenum in some cases, particularly in those of waterfall stomach. In such cases, AdvanCE is found to be an effective guidance tool.

Treatment with vonoprazan for 3 weeks is not inferior to 8 weeks for the management of gastric ESD: a multicenter noninferiority randomized study.

Background: Vonoprazan, a potassium-competitive acid blocker (VPZ), significantly reduces postoperative bleeding after gastric ESD; however, there is no consensus on the appropriate treatment duration. We conducted a randomized controlled study to demonstrate that the 3-week administration of VPZ is not inferior to the 8-week administration for ulcer healing.

Zinc intake has reduced hospitalizations in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC), highlighting the need to maintain blood zinc levels. This prospective study investigated whether the promotion of zinc intake and a Japanese diet (high in -3 fatty acids) could induce clinical remission in patients with mild active UC. Patients with mild active UC were randomly assigned to either (1) continue an unrestricted diet or (2) receive nutritional guidance promoting zinc intake and a Japanese diet.

Combined effects of granulocyte and monocyte adsorption apheresis and corticosteroids on ulcerative colitis.

Several new treatments for ulcerative colitis have been developed recently. The depletion of leukocytes by granulocyte and monocyte adsorption apheresis (GMA) was developed and adapted for patients with ulcerative colitis with rare adverse events. We investigated whether treatment with GMA and prednisolone (GMA + PSL) is more effective than PSL alone for patients with moderate to severe ulcerative colitis.

Palliative stenting for malignant colorectal stenosis in the elderly.

Objectives: Self-expandable metal stents are widely used for the treatment of malignant colorectal stenosis (MCS). In elderly individuals with MCS, self-expandable metal stents are often used as a palliative treatment, but prophylactic stent placement is not recommended. We investigated the efficacy and safety of self-expandable metal stents for the elderly in a palliative setting, specifically in a prophylactic setting.
