Introduction: Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is a common manifestation of atherosclerosis. Despite the effectiveness of endovascular therapy (EVT), patients with PAD often face poor prognoses. This study investigates the relationship between specific inflammatory indices and wound healing in patients with Fontaine stage 4 chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI).

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of control imaging after intravenous (IV) tirofiban infusion on the clinical outcome of patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Methods: Patients who underwent PCI between June 2020 and October 2023 at our tertiary referral hospital and received tirofiban infusion were analyzed. Primary composite endpoint was the combination of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, cerebrovascular accident, or unplanned revascularization during follow-up.

Rheumatic heart valvular disease (RHVD) is primarily characterized by immune-mediated damage following infection with Streptococcus pyogenes, leading to inflammation and subsequent valvular dysfunction. Traditionally, the focus has been on the immunological aspects of this disease; however, emerging evidence suggests that lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] may play a crucial role not only in atherosclerosis but also in the pathophysiology of calcific aortic valve disease. Given the inflammatory nature of RHVD and the pro-inflammatory and pro-calcific properties of Lp(a), this study aimed to investigate the relationship between serum Lp(a) levels and the severity of RHVD.

Background: This multicenter study aimed to retrospectively assess the relationship between bifurcation angle (BA) and major cardiovascular events (MACEs) in patients undergoing nano-crush technique (NCT) for complex bifurcation lesions (CBLs).

Methods: A total of 122 consecutive patients [male: 85 (69.6%), mean age: 61.

Background: In this multicenter study we aimed to retrospectively identify the midterm clinical outcomes of the mini-crush technique (MCT) and nano-crush technique (NCT) in patients with complex bifurcation lesions (CBLs).

Methods: The study included 431 patients (318 men [73.8%], mean age 60.

Article Synopsis
  • Moderate to severe tricuspid regurgitation (TR) in acute heart failure (AHF) patients leads to worse clinical outcomes, prompting the development of the TRI-SCORE to predict outcomes after tricuspid surgery.
  • A study involving 233 hospitalized AHF patients demonstrated that those with higher TRI-SCORE values were associated with increased all-cause mortality during an 8-month follow-up.
  • The TRI-SCORE serves as an effective tool for risk stratification, showing significant predictive value for mortality in AHF patients with moderate to severe TR.

Article Synopsis
  • Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) is essential for managing acute and chronic coronary syndromes, helping to lower mortality rates and prevent further complications.
  • A study followed 1500 patients on a specific fixed-dose DAPT (ASA + clopidogrel) to evaluate its effectiveness and safety, primarily focusing on hospitalization and bleeding risks.
  • Results indicated that the fixed-dose combination therapy was effective, with low rates of hospitalization for cardiovascular issues and minimal bleeding complications in appropriately selected patients.

In this study, we investigated the long-term prognostic effects of fibrinogen levels in patients with resistant hypertension. A total of 266 patients with resistant hypertension who had serum fibrinogen measurements and 5 years of follow-up information were retrospectively included in the study. The patients were stratified according to their fibrinogen levels, which were then divided into tertiles.

Background: Double kissing crush (DKC) and nano-crush (NC) techniques are frequently used, but the comparison for both techniques is still lacking. The goal of this multicenter study was to retrospectively assess the midterm clinical results of DKC and NC stenting in patients with complex bifurcation lesions (CBLs).

Methods: A total of 324 consecutive patients [male: 245 (75.

Introduction: The objective of this study was to examine whether there is an elevated risk of developing contrast induced nephropathy (CIN) in patients with high systolic pulmonary artery pressure (SPAP) in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).

Methods: A total of 213 patients diagnosed with STEMI and who underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention were enrolled in the study. The patients were stratified into two groups based on the presence of CIN.

Objective: Due to the conflict in Syria since 2011, more than 3.5 million Syrian citizens reside in Türkiye. Because Syrian patients were underrepresented in previous studies on percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) outcomes, we aimed to analyze the severity of coronary artery disease and in-hospital outcomes of PCI in this population.

This study aimed to explore the potential association between the triglyceride-glucose index (TyG) and the atherogenic index of plasma (AIP)-both considered surrogate markers for atherosclerosis-and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) in patients diagnosed with chronic coronary syndrome (CCS). We conducted a retrospective analysis, encompassing 715 consecutive patients with intermediate CCS risk, who presented at the outpatient clinic between June 2020 and August 2022. MACEs included non-fatal myocardial infarction, hospitalization for heart failure, cerebrovascular events, non-cardiac mortality, and cardiac mortality.

In this study, we investigated the occurrence of no-reflow (NR) in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for saphenous vein grafts (SVGs) and its relationship with a new systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) that determines inflammation. We studied 303 patients with acute coronary syndrome without ST elevation who underwent PCI for SVG disease. NR formation during SVG PCI was significantly higher in patients with high SII (p < 0.

Aim: Coronary slow flow phenomenon (CSFP) detected on coronary angiography (CA) has been related to poor prognosis. We sought to examine the relationship between thromboembolic risk scores, routinely used in cardiology practice, and CSFP.

Methods: This single-center, retrospective, case-control study comprised 505 individuals suffering from angina and had verified ischemia between January 2021 and January 2022.

Prosthetic valve endocarditis with mechanical complications causing pulmonary edema is fatal, therefore it needs to be diagnosed early and should be treated surgically in emergency setting. Transesophageal echocardiogram is crucial for recognizing the mechanical complications, which can be encountered on daily practice, but the coexistence of complications occurring on different mechanism is rather uncommon. Herein, we report a 21-year-old gentleman presenting with acute heart failure, whose imaging tests showed a combination of dehiscence of mechanical aortic valve prosthesis, aortic dissection, pseudoaneurysm, and hematoma causing right ventricular collapse.

Objective: In this study, we aimed to determine the plasma proadrenomedullin (ProADM) levels in patients with rheumatic mitral stenosis (MS), to evaluate the relationship between ProADM levels and the echocardiographic parameters that represent the severity of stenosis and symptoms, and to compare the ProADM and N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels, which is a well-known marker for rheumatic MS.

Methods: Our study included 53 consecutive patients with isolated rheumatic MS and 45 volunteers with similar age and gender features. Patients with MS were divided into two groups based on the presence of an indication for intervention.

Objectives: The prognostic value of pentraxin 3 (PTX3) has been documented in patients with acute coronary syndrome. However, its long-term prognostic value in acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) remains unclear. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of PTX3 in patients with STEMI undergoing a primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
