Purpose: Inflammation may play a role in the development of diabetic retinopathy during pregnancy. Glycodelin is a glycoprotein whose secretion from the endometrial glands increases during pregnancy. Glycodelin has immunosuppressive properties thought to play a role in the protection of the fetoplacental unit.
