We present the case of a 41-year-old man with sudden development of left hemiparesis due to infarction of the right middle cerebral artery that was successfully treated with intravenous (IV) thrombolysis with alteplase. Transthoracic echocardiography showed a small mass in the left ventricle. The patient underwent surgical resection, and histological examination of the mass confirmed the diagnosis of papillary fibroelastoma.

In a few patients with acute proximal thrombotic occlusion of the left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD), tall ischemic T waves never evolve into ST-segment elevation. This was recently inaccurately reported as a "novel sign" of proximal LAD occlusion. It has been speculated that the absence of ST-segment elevation could be attributed to the large area of transmural ischemia, the anatomic variant of Purkinje fibers, or to lack of activation of sarcolemal adenosine triphosphate-potassium channels.

Fine-needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy has become a well established technique in the diagnosis, staging, and follow-up of patients with head and neck lesions. As in lymphoma diagnostics, FNA serves as a screening method in evaluating potentially affected lymph node for open or core biopsy. According to the World Health Organization classification of lymphoid neoplasms, today it is important to recognize cell morphology and reveal its phenotype, then combine it with different genotypic information and clinical data to provide appropriate therapy.

Interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC) are morphologically and functionally intercalated between the elements of the enteric nervous system and the smooth muscle cells (SMCs) in the musculature of the digestive tract. Kit immunohistochemistry reliably identifies the location of these cells and provides information on changes in ICC distribution and density. Human oesophagus specimens (7 embryos, 23 fetuses at 7-27 weeks gestational age; both sexes) were exposed to Kit antibodies to determine ICC differentiation.

A geographic information system (GIS)--based on spatial analysis--was developed for optimizing the SO(2) total emission cut scheme on air pollution in Bor (Serbia), combined with Models-3 modeling system and linear programming model. GIS is mainly used for establishing a multifactor assessment model to quantitatively divide environmental functional zone and also used for selecting control sites in linear programming model. A linear programming model was developed to optimize the emission determined by SO(2) control measures.

We report a case of halo-phenomenon in excisional biopsy of junctional nevi in a 19-year-old girl. The diagnosis was established histopathologically because of the lack of clinical halo and unspecific dermoscopic features. Clinicopathologic difficulties in establishing the diagnosis of these pigmented lesions, etiopathogenesis and differential diagnosis of halo nevi are emphasized.

The influence of the germinal-center B-cell (GCB) and the non-GCB phenotypes of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) on the outcome of 92 patients treated with cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone (CHOP) or CHOP-like chemotherapy, with or without rituximab was determined in this study. The differentiation between the GCB and non-GCB types was arrived at by immunohistochemistry using previously published criteria. Thirty-nine patients had the GCB and 53 had the non-GCB type of DLBCL.

Introduction: Gastrointestinal stromal tumors are the most common mesenchimal tumors of the gastrointestinal tract. Despite the enormous progress made in the field of diagnostics, most often diagnosis is made during the explorative laparotomy and postoperative immunohystochemical analysis of specimen. The surgical treatment is often indicated, although scarce preoperative diagnosis causes intraoperative dilemma concerning the level of radicality.
