Inflammatory Pseudotumor of the Spleen in a Patient With Psoriatic Arthritis: A Diagnostic Challenge in the COVID-19 Era.

The baseline inflammatory microenvironment in various organs of patients, which is shaped by pre-existing conditions and circulating drugs at the time before viral antigen exposure, may affect the severity of coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) infection and the nature of its complications. Inflammatory pseudotumor (IPT) of the spleen may represent one such complication that merits further investigation. We describe the case of a patient, who was under long-term treatment with a tumor necrosis factor inhibitor (TNFi), for psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and developed an inflammatory mass in the spleen, accompanied by systemic manifestations.

Pancreatic cancer with synchronous peritoneal and hepatic metastases: A case report.

Unlabelled: Introduction and importance: There is evidence that patients with limited peritoneal carcinomatosis of pancreatic cancer or those with low burden of hepatic metastases are amenable to surgical resection. A case report of a patient with cancer of the pancreatic tail and synchronous peritoneal and hepatic metastases is presented.

Case Presentation: A male patient, 66 years old, underwent cytoreductive surgery (CRS) plus hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) and radio-frequency ablation (RFA) for synchronous hepatic metastases simultaneously to distal pancreatectomy for adenocarcinoma of the pancreas.

Osteocutaneous Turn-Up Fillet Flaps: A Spare-Parts Orthoplastic Surgery Option for a Functional Posttraumatic Below-Knee Amputation.

This article portrays the authors' experience with a complex lower limb bone and soft tissue defect, following chronic osteomyelitis and pathological fracture, which was managed by the multidisciplinary orthoplastic team. The decision for functional amputation versus limb salvage was deemed necessary, enhanced by the principles of "spare parts" in reconstructive microsurgery. This case describes the successful use of the osteocutaneous distal tibia turn-up fillet flap that allowed "lowering the level of the amputation" from a through knee to a below-knee amputation (BKA) to preserve the knee joint function.

Background: Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROM) after resection of tarsal coalitions are sparse. This cross-sectional study evaluates the outcome after resection of tarsal coalitions in children using the validated Oxford Foot and Ankle Questionnaire (OxAFQ).

Methods: Tarsal coalition patients between 5-16 years of age from Aarhus University Hospital (Denmark) and The Royal London Hospital (United Kingdom) were included.

Aims: The aim of this study was to present the first retrieval analysis findings of PRECICE STRYDE intermedullary nails removed from patients, providing useful information in the post-market surveillance of these recently introduced devices.

Methods: We collected ten nails removed from six patients, together with patient clinical data and plain radiograph imaging. We performed macro- and microscopic analysis of all surfaces and graded the presence of corrosion using validated semiquantitative scoring methods.

Immunoproliferative Small Intestinal Disease in a Liver Transplant Recipient: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Immunoproliferative small intestinal disease is an extranodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma that arises from mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue and is associated with defective α heavy chain protein secretion. We present a case of an 18-year-old male patient admitted with diarrhea and weight loss who had previously received a liver transplant at the age of 19 months to treat biliary atresia. He underwent a thorough investigation and was diagnosed with immunoproliferative small intestinal disease lymphoma.

Early results from a single centre's experience with the STRYDE nail : a cause for concern?

Aims: The STRYDE nail is an evolution of the PRECICE Intramedullary Limb Lengthening System, with unique features regarding its composition. It is designed for load bearing throughout treatment in order to improve patient experience and outcomes and allow for simultaneous bilateral lower limb lengthening. The literature published to date is limited regarding outcomes and potential problems.

This study examines the strain produced on different locations of the distal ring during loading and the effects on the strain of altering the frame construct.
